Ubbi Stainless Steel Diaper Pail, No Special Bags, Odor-Locking, Gray

This thing is amazing. I have successfully used for until it died through 3 kids. For almost 8years this thing has been solid. Kept the smell contained in the bathroom when closed and easy to open and replace the bag as it's a standard trash bag. Well after 8 years(my oldest is 8years 1 month) all of which this thing has lived in a bathroom withstanding humidity from the shower daily, it has finally rusted through and is stinking up the bathroom and getting some bugs, so I just threw the whole thing away. Between 3 kids it has been in almost constant use. I'd say for how well it's done for 8 years I would definitely give this 5 stars.

Bought this as a gift for my grandson and his wife who recently had a beautiful baby girl. We are all happy with it. I think it’s better than the diaper genie. The size holds a lot of dirty diapers doesn’t necessarily contain the smell.

It does a great job.

I got this in September 2018 and it has not had a break since then. The inside does smell horrendous but it keeps it contained. This thing has been through multiple children and moved homes with us. We love that it uses regular trash bags and is easy to use. The handle on the top just broke after over 7 years of daily use. This thing owes us nothing.

After two weeks of use, I can confidently say the Ubbi stainless steel diaper pail does exactly what it promises. The biggest standout feature—and what truly sets it apart from most others—is that it works with regular kitchen trash bags. No more being locked into overpriced, proprietary refills. That alone makes it a winner in my book. In fact, the ability to use your own bags can help offset the higher upfront price of the pail over time. Another big plus is the design. It's compact, sleek, and comes in tons of color options. Ours looks great in the nursery, and we don’t feel the need to hide it away in a bathroom. Performance-wise, it holds in odors very well when used properly, which is critical with a newborn in the house. That said, there are a few trade-offs. The opening at the top is quite small, so you have to roll or fold diapers up tightly to get them in cleanly. The overall size could also be larger—we find our one-month-old fills it up in about 5–6 days, which isn’t quite enough to make it to the weekly trash pickup. Once full, removing the trash bag can be tricky. It gets snug inside, and there’s definitely a risk of tearing the bag during removal—though to be fair, that’s likely a common issue across diaper pails. Also, they recommend not using water or cleaning products to clean, which seems unrealistic if a mess happens—wiping it down alone may not be enough. Another notable issue is securing the trash bag. The inner ring that holds the bag in place is the same small size as the opening, so the large trash bag opening tends to pop out as diapers accumulate. I solved this by tying a knot in the bag underside the ring, but it’s a bit of a workaround. Finally, I’ve noticed other reviews mentioning the plastic components can break over time, which does make me question long-term durability. Still, for the convenience, looks, odor control, and long-term savings on bags, this is one of the better diaper pails out there.

So, just bought our second Ubbi! It is an amazing diaper pail. The first one was gifted for our now 5 year old. We used it all through his infancy and potty training. When we were expecting our second child, we decided it was still good to still use! It holds a lot, convenient to empty and fill and lastly, uses any bag. Now, that our second just turned 1 and had been eating solids more, we decided to buy a new one just for extra sanitation and to help combat smells. So, all in all, the first one lasted 5 years plus! No regrets and we were happy to buy a second one just for extra sanitation and helping to control odor. You won't refer regret this buy.

I swear by ubbi, a friend of mine got this for my first baby shower and I’ve had it for 3 almost 4 years. I accidentally broke the can while I was cleaning it and the smell started the come out since I broke it, I bought a new one because prior to it being broken it was amazing, it would hold the smell inside through the harshest of diapers lol. It really does trap the smell. It is easy to clean, I was being way too rough when I was cleaning it because that’s just how I am but I know better this time around lol. It’s decent size and depth. Has a locking mechanism so the kids can’t open it and get inside. Great quality. Love this.

I've had one week with this diaper pail with my week-old son and it has functioned flawlessly. The fact that I'm sleep-deprived and have not once been annoyed with this or had it malfunction should be evidence enough that its design is great. Using it is simple: a light push down on the loop and then slide it back to open the receptacle. After making your deposit, pull the handle back towards you and it will pop back in to place, sealing the stainless steel lid against the rubber gasket. I was skeptical before I purchased this that it did not allow for hands-free operation (foot pedal, IR sensor, mind control, etc...), but it is easy enough to be operated with a diaper in hand. Also, it takes any trash bag you have, making it (one of) the cheapest diaper pails in the long run. A neutral comment is that it is small; it is only 2 feet in height. This makes it easy to fit in any room, but it may cause back strain. My only negative, which may be a bit of a nit-pick, is opening the lid to remove the bag. There is a nub on the lid to grab, but nothing on the body to provide good counter-pressure. After opening it only a few times, I find myself consistently grabbing the lid with both hands when trying to pry it open and have to readjust my grip. Given the frequency with which it needs to be emptied, I can deal with this. Edit: after hearing from Ubbi's customer service (within minutes of this review going live), my one negative is no longer! I had been opening the pail in the middle of the room, which I guess is not optimal. If you place it with its back against a wail, all you need to do is apply light pressure to the Ubbi logo on the body of the pail while lifting the lid and the latch pops open with almost no effort!. My one nit-pick should not have been enough to keep you from buying this pail, but now you have absolutely no reason not to!

This product does not hold in the smell as it says. I washed it and still smells. Not worth the purchase.

On utilise cette poubelle pour la litière sale de nos chats et pour éviter le besoin de descendre tous les jours aux poubelles communales (on vit dans un appartement). On met toujours un sac poubelle épais dedans et on utilise aussi des petits sacs de 5L chaque fois qu'on vide les boites des chats. Après quatre ans d'utilisation journalière, cette poubelle va toujours bien. On n'a pas une problème avec l'odeur et la messianisme pour fermer la couvercle marche toujours bien. Je crois que notre approche d'utiliser des sacs grands et épais ainsi qui des petits sacs de 5L pour chaque fois qu'on le remplit a aider de prolonger la vie de la poubelle. J'aurais acheter une autre si jamais j'ai eu besoin.
