I really don't know anything about teaching your kid things because when we grew up we only had school for that and I don't remember that, so I guess they did a good job? Anyway, this book is a really, really great tool to help teach your kid reading. We've been working really hard on reading and writing the alphabet but you don't realize how hard the English language really is until you have someone trying to sound out words and finding that so many of them sound the same and mean something different or have exceptions to the sound rules! I love that this book has enough repetition in each week that the words really get into my kid's brain. I usually do a week lesson per day because I'm not home schooling, I'm focusing on this task, but you could do either. Even doing a week lesson in one day never takes more than 20 minutes including all the temper tantrums about having to read themselves instead of me doing it.
