what is the distance between the 2 tall bars?

I had no way to measure so I am guessing about I!/2 inches. This is very handy, it is worth it.

Any way to put plastic hangers on to they dont fall off the bottom?

The base of the holder is wide enough that they don’t fall off. Mine is constantly loaded/unloaded/loaded and I have not had any issue with the plastic ones falling off.
