This is such a good book. Has examples of each topic and loads of exercises that follow to make sure you understand. Answers at the back too. Bought for my son. CGP books are so user friendly and explain things so simply.

So much better than the text books that schools are forced to buy. Loads more questions in the new edition too.

This series of books are produced to look just like the ones which are published by Pearsons who in turn produce the real exam papers! As a home tutor, these books are useful. They are (a little) cheaper than the Pearson books but ideal for additional questions and exercises to those the students are probably being set at school.

These CGP books are presented well, at the beginning of each chapter it summarises the learning objectives as well as listing a prior knowledge check that references previous editions like GCSE math's or Year 1 Pure Maths, previous chapters etc - it also gives tips and the use of hi lighting and bold text is utilized. There are review exercises listed with relative marks at the end of each working chapter along with a summary of that said chapter, the answers are also at the end of the book. This edition also includes a practice exam paper. I prefer reading paper edition of books but a free online edition is also included with the product, really handy if you dont want to carry the heavy hard copy around or if you forget to take it. These CGP edition of books are used at my sons school.

The biggest issue that I have with textbooks is actually getting students to use them. CGP has a long history of making accessible texts that students actually use. This textbook covers the latest year 1 A-level syllabus in statistics and mechanics. The layout of the book and the use of examples, the use of diagrams and colour make this a very accessible text without the intimidation of all that dense black and white text that textbooks used to have. It has a good structure and it is easy to find the bits that you need. An invaluable resource.

Covers the spec in full and in a clear and engaging way. Plenty of worked examples and questions make this an excellent book for covering the course.
