Incredibly useful and versatile
The combination of the flat head for reach and variable speed for comfort & safety makes grinding a much more enjoyable activity. I have 5 conventional 4.5 inch angle grinders from other brands as comparison.Access tight spaces:The traditional configuration of an angle grinder makes it very difficult to get into tight spaces, requiring other less efficient methods & tools to address. With the flat head, the reach is quite extraordinary, and the possibilities really open up what can be done with an angle grinder.Variable Speed:The variable speed enhances operator comfort, safety, and precision. After operating this one for 20+ hours , I believe that all grinders should be variable speed.Realistically, 90% of the time, a lower speed is going to be most effective. No Wrench!:The no-tool retaining nut is a really nice design - I want to retrofit my other grinders with this.Cruise control:This grinder is reasonably good at electronically holding the selected speed even as the load changes, which is a nice feature.Cons - Feeling hot:As other reviews have mentioned, this grinder can get quite hot under prolonged load. I have had to stop to let it cool perhaps twice. While it runs somewhat hotter than average, I would add that my conventional grinders also get hot under prolonged load (at least one tends hotter than this one). The heat on this model tends to be more noticeable because the operator is more likely to have a hand placed on the extended head, and is somewhat less likely to use the handle (since tight access is often the point).Overall, this is an excellent machine.

Metabo quality
I was a little hesitant about buying this grinder because of the cost, but every day that I use it, I appreciate it more and more. I have been using it now for two years. It is very well balanced, with little vibration. The variable speed is useful. It has a lockable power switch, so you can do hold the machine with both hands. After a year of use, it just would not start. Took it in to a local shop that is a dealer. They sent it back to the main center and found that there was a problem with the power cord. They replaced it, all free of charge. No cost to me even for shipping! Now this is a company that stands behind its product.

Great grinder
First one I received was used and missing parts. I returned it and received a new one With no hassle. It does get hotter than my standard Metabo with extreme use. Variable speed is an awesome feature. Very nice for getting into tight corners.

Not quite as advertised, otherwise seems to be a good unit so far.
Advertisement here says "...10 Amp..." but the factory sticker on the unit itself says it is only a 9.5 amp. Some might say close enough but wrong is wrong and amps matter, especially when you specifically spent time trying to select the best tool to make the very most of a truck mounted inverter/generator without drawing too much or being too weak. 10 to 10.5 amps was my sweet spot with inverter running up to around +/- 80% capacity. Now I have an under-sized tool. That said, I like the brand and quality. The variable speed is nice and the flat-head feature really does get into places a regular style grinder just won't touch. The other positive is I learned that the German term for angle grinder is "winkelschleifer" which is what it shall be called from now on.Again though, and most guys can relate, I do wish my winkelschleifer was just a little bit bigger ....

Great for polished concrete
I do polished concrete floors and this might be my new favorite grinder, easily gets under cabinet toe kicks and hard to reach places. Does get a little warm, but the sacrificed heat shielding for the ability to get places a normal grinder won't is more than a fair trade off in my opinion

Brilliant design. Quality is unsurpassed
Metabo makes the best tools. Variable speed is necessary to make flap wheels last. Shroud design is brilliantly engineered for no tool adjusting. Powerfull motor. Slow speed has great torque. I use mine for very precise tack removal and blending.

This is a great angle grinder!
I love this variable flat head angle grinder! It is really well made, reaches further than other grinders, and is well balanced to work with!I always replace the original 8' cord with a 15' cord to extend the reach of all my corded power tools around my 5x10 welding table!
