Pelican 1510 Overnight Laptop Case

heavier that advertised...
The case is just as advertised however the weight is off by enough to be annoying. It weighs in at just under 15 pounds... for Air Canada that leaves just 7 pounds for actual stowage. That means that the 12 pounds that is advertised is wrong :(

Simply the best
This is my favorite carry-on luggage ever. I have been traveling for too long so I know. I do have some of the best travel bags but this hands down is now my favorite. Why did I buy this one?1. I love other brands that have lifetime warranties - but I had to use the warranty process too often and in the meanwhile, I bought replacements or backups2. Replacements/Backups of those other bags with lifetime warranties costs almost twice as much as this case (yes, I love my Briggs & Riley, ZERO/Halliburton and my Rimowa - though Rimowa is no longer a lifetime warranty but only 5 years.)3. This truly is indestructible. Why did I buy a Pelican case for my travel needs?1. Lifetime warranty. No questions asked. I had used the warranty process only once, and I got a replacement.2. One piece pull out handle. The best of the best luggage that has screws or pins in the pull out handles will become loose and come apart, and inevitably, you will lose the screw when you are mid travel. Not the best thing to happen when you fly often enough.3. I can sit on this luggage at the airport.4. It holds enough contents for me to travel for a full business week, along with my Pelican Backpack.5. This will easily fit under the seat on short haul flights like an Embraer E/ERJ series, Bombardier CRJs, and the like, so no gate checking the luggage.6. This truly is indestructible for travel. I repeat that for a reason. Your really have to drop this many times to break it.What I don't I like? None of the don't likes bother me, but it may bother others, so here it is.1. The bag is heavy empty. I don't mind that, it just gives me a piece of mind that this is a solid case. That being said, because it weighs a lot to begin with, you cannot fill it with say, >40lbs of contents as there are restrictions on the weight if you do need to check it.2. I wish there were more inside add-on accessories. I like what is in there, and use the space to its maximum capacity, but I wish I can get other inside accessories to customize. I will probably build something that goes in the lid where I can use MOLLE as the option to accessories if I want to keep the laptop/accessories bags out.3. The wheels are a bit noisy depending on the surface, but I don't need to be a travel ninja. It gets a lot of attention both good and bad. I have had others comment that this is one of the noisiest roller bags on some terrain. Again, I really don't care. It works.4. It's not as stylish as a Briggs or Rimowa. Again, I don't care. I just need it to hold my contents and roll around without fail. I don't want something cheap as you get what you paid for. I have bought < $99 luggage at least 5 times, when I realized I need to spend it once and forget it. I have to say my Samsonite ($199) I bought back in the 80s is still working and in my possession.5. This may not be International Carry-On friendly. When I travel abroad, I usually carry a large backpack as a carry-on.In summary, this is my Go-To Bag as a Road Warrior. I travel often enough to be annoying, and I need everything I carry on trips to just work. This just works, and I have already logged over 25,000 miles on this piece of luggage and not one nick, scratch, dent or crack/chip. It expected it to be the best as I have many other Pelican cases for other uses that have worked well over the years.

If you've read the reviews, you know everything you need to know
Just as has been said in most of the other reviews, the Pro's and Con's of this case are very well documented.Something I hadn't read before I purchased has to do with the included laptop case/sleeve that fits in the lid. The sleeve is made of lightweight material that almost insists on getting caught in the lip of the lid when you close it with a laptop inside. I pulled the sleeve off of the velcro and moved it a little to the right, and it doesn't get caught in the lid quite as easily now, but it's something that I have to check every time I close the case. You can still close the case with the laptop sleeve fabric caught in the lid, but it's just a pain.Other than that, my thoughts on the case echo most of the others:PRO: - Pelican Case. Indestructible. Lifetime warranty. Everything that Pelican is legendary for is in this case. - The body of the case has a nice neoprene zip lining that keeps your stuff from banging around against the hard outer shell. - The neoprene lining is easily removable. Just slowly/firmly lift it out and you can convert the case to a custom equipment case (several types of custom foam are available from the Pelican website).CON: - It's heavy. Once you pack the case with your stuff, you will probably find that half of the weight is the case itself. - The usable space in the body of the case is extremely limited. Extremely. As in, if you aren't comfortable with packing only the bare essentials then you either won't like this case or you'll need to bring a backpack or something for the overflow. - Expensive. But as in most things, you get the quality that you pay for.

works great. wheels are very quite on smooth surfaces
I use this for my lunch bag for work, works great. wheels are very quite on smooth surfaces, but loud on gravel or bumpy surfaces. I add several stickers on the case and had no problem falling off because of the texture. The strap the i got for the laptop is little big but still does the job. the corner of the laptop pouch does get in the way when it closes but can be easily pushed in out of the way to close the box. Very heavy duty, i was involved an accident and protected all my stuff i had in there. it does have a battle scar (scrap) from the accident but does not effect the case. exactly what i was looking for when i bought it. If your looking at this item Pelican just came out with the Pelican Air which wasn't offered at the time I'm looking forward in doing business with Pelican again.
