Breakaway Navy Blue Lanyard and Retractable Badge Reel Combination by Alliance ID

After reading the reviews of everyone getting Black lanyards, I did receive a Blue one which is what I wanted. The ability to customize the length is perfect. It started long enough to reach my belt buckle. I was then able to adjust it to exactly where I wanted it. One thing to keep in mind when you adjust the length is to cut equal parts from each side so the clasp is still in the middle. The retractable leash operates smoothly and is plenty long for anything I need to do without taking the lanyard off my neck. I love it and would recommend this item to anyone.

What's there not to love about this thing! It retracts and the cloth is nice and soft for a comfortable wear. The snap doesn't come undone very easily but that's a really good thing that way whatever you're hanging from the lanyard won't fall off and be misplaced. What more can you want?!

The strap is lightweight and comfortable to wear. It's a huge improvement over heavier lanyards with scratchy fabric. Considering the weight and price point, I doubt the mechanism is very sturdy and I suspect the extendable line is very cheap and won't last a year. The manufacturer can make this a near-perfect product by using a durable extendable line. I wish it was available with logos of popular teams and schools. I really like the safety breakaway clasp and the ability to shorten the lanyard to the best length.To shorten the lanyard (which is easily 2" to 3" too long, as most are), hold the lanyard at the breakaway clasp. Orient the clasp on a table so that the middle of the clasp is away from you and one side of the fabric is towards you. The smooth and slightly convex side of the clasp should be up. Insert a small flat screwdriver or blade between the fabric and the black plastic at the right side of the clasp. Not all the way to the right, just shy of it. Twist a little and work open the back at the barely visible seam ... the hinges are at the left side and the back opens like a door. Cut the fabric to desired length and replace the back. Rotate the lanyard and do the same on the other side of the clasp. The original material was treated at the end (perhaps heat or glue) to prevent the fabric from ravelling. It may be a good idea to do the same on your newly shortened fabric. Opening the back doesn't appear to weaken the back or hinges, but you might want to glue the back shut as well just in case it does, as the materials do seem a bit cheap.

Nearly a year later and the retractor still is in great condition. The fabric is very smooth and does not tangle.
