I tried the brand Catalyst, it’s made from soft “siftable” pine litter. The pine smell of it I couldn’t get used, sifting the pee was terrible and just crumbled through the scooper, so you needed to scoop out more of the litter and it was just wasteful. Not to mention wood dust particles are larger then clay dust, and is even worse for you to inhale, it made the air feel so unhealthy. It’s also twice the price!! I tried wood pellets since I heard they were very cost effective, was also terrible lol Didn’t hide the smell of droppings at all nor were my cats able to cover their poop properly. It just wasn’t practical and made little sense, and I’m someone who cleans my litter droppings everyday. Also considered flushable litter, but no matter what they say none of those are truly safe for your septic tank. So I gave this clay litter brand a try, and I’ve finally found the one. Virtually dust free (I’ve yet to see dust at all) I still pour slowly. Clumps magnificently!! Hides smell great. My cats cover their droppings the best with this litter. But other lightweights don't give enough litter and are more expensive. 2) odor control, because when you have multiple cats.... well, you need odor control. I clean out the litter every day or two, but I am paranoid about not letting the house smell like cat litter. 3) Clumping.
