ONCE AGAIN, AMAZON PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONS ARE LAZY HORRIBLE! KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY!
ONCE AGAIN, Amazon got /lazymode and decided to lump every style of Dockers shorts into one product category without differentiating the product description. If you think "the only difference between the color choices are the color", WRONG!I have had 2 of these shorts so far, and they were worlds apart. The "Docker's Olive" is made with a very thick material, almost like a pair of jeans; whereas the "Coastal Sage" style was lightweight, and a thinner material. It even has a product tag on it that says "Flyweight" on it... apparently Amazon, again too lazy to see that.SOOO... what does this mean for you? Because each has advantages/disadvantages, it depends on where you live; what you are doing.LIGHTWEIGHT ("Coastal Sage"): If you live in someplace like CA or HI; near water, and "120F+ temperatures", you will want the lightweight material. Plus, they are more water resistant (they are not a "towel", like the thicker one). If you also care about "environmental issues" (energy/water used to make; clean), or consider yourself "a hipster" and like the sleek look, the lightweight stuff is best. The disadvantage, of course, is they are far more likely to break on you over time.HEAVYWEIGHT ("Docker's Olive"): These shorts are rugged. You can do "crazy" stuff with them, and they won't simply break at the seams because you stretched your legs too wide (Been There, Done That). If you live in someplace that is "cold" like Seattle (with hot summer days; cold nights) then you want these. Or, if you are like me, and wear shorts 365.249 days a year. Also, if you live in a desert, and it gets super cold at night, these are best. The disadvantage is lack of water resistance... get them wet, and you will feel it for awhile.BOTTOM LINE: KNOW BEFORE YOU BUY. Because I have incomplete information as to all the different colors that exist, I would suggest that you find these in a store and test before loading up. Or buy only 1 of each, and test for yourself. Otherwise, don't get "shocked" from Amazon's laziness when you realize that you get a different color, and they were "Like totally different, dude", it is so...

... I purchased the size 30 waist and I absolutely love these shorts
5'8"160 lbsI purchased the size 30 waist and I absolutely love these shorts. I like the fabric and the fit. I saw some of the other negative reviews stating that the shorts were too short, but that is the way that these shorts are supposed to fit. They fit me right to the top of the knee cap, which is what I like. When you sit down, they will recede a few inches further away from your knee cap. If this is a problem, maybe these shorts are not for you. In addition, they are somewhat form-fitting around the butt and thighs. If you are overweight, this might also be a problem. The sample model photo that is shown is an accurate depiction of how these shorts will fit.

Dockers has started using MUCH cheaper thinner material , quite disappointed!
the material seems very thin and "cheap". I have purchased Dockers Cargo Shorts in this same style for a number of years and always loved the sturdy , heavy cotton material used, but now they have these "Cargo shorts" in the same style , but in much thinner material. It also seems to be partially made of some cheap plastic type of material. I am quite disappointed, and might see if i can return these. What happened Dockers? or can anyone explain why they would go from such quality, sturdy material to this cheap crap used to make these?? (The price is the same , but I got these on "Sale price" for $ 28, but had done so before too for the heavier quality versions.

A surprisingly versatile pair of shorts
A pretty good pair of shorts. These shorts are cargo shorts, but they are also Dockers and a classic fit style, so they somehow manage to look both casual and dressy at the same time. While there is no formal situation where I would wear shorts, when I want to look a little nicer in shorts, perhaps with a polo, these shorts come in handy. But they also work just as well for a hot summer day at the park or hiking around. They are comfortable, heavy enough to to noticed but not so thick that they don't breathe, and seem fairly durable. Their length, often hard to get right in a pair of men's shorts, falls just right, being neither too short or too long. The color has stayed true despite multiple washings. Lastly, these shorts can even double as a pair of swim trunks if you are out in them and decide to spontaneously go swimming after a hike or if you come across a perfect place to jump in the water.Overall I have been pleased with these shorts and they were worth purchasing.

Not true khaki color.
I’m not very pleased. First of all they’re more brown gold than lighter khaki. Also they’re made of a glossy fabric. Kind of like the difference between glossy and matte finish on photos.I can’t understand why they say stretch. They don’t. Won’t purchase again.

Very lightweight poplin cotton short.
The stretch fabric is nice. Just enough give to make them comfortable all day. Light weight. Good stitching throughout. Crotch is a little high cut, but not really an issue. What I do not like is that the back pockets are open. Meaning in past pairs I have owned there was a button or snap or flap of fabric that covered the pocket with a button or snap closure.

Sizes are a bit smaller than other manufacturers.
Compared to other brands, the Dockers pants run a little small. Same for the shorts. However I'm not sure if that is the way it should be since I know that a lot of clothing manufacturers, especially those that make women's clothes, have made their sizes actually bigger so that buyers would feel good about themselves. I have a feeling that Men's clothiers have done the same. I normally buy size 40 in other brands, which fit snugly before I eat but feel a bit tight after eating. For Dockers a size 40 would fit a little tight before eating so I buy a 42 which feels a little bit loose. I think a Dockers 42 would be equivalent to a 41 in other manufacturers except that I don't think anyone makes 41 anymore.

Great shorts fit perfectly and are very comfortable
Okay, I'm a big guy whose actually losing weight. I've gone down 3 sizes in the last couple of months. I need clothes, but as I drop weight, 1. I don't want my pants falling off, and 2. I still want to look nicely dressed. This shorts are stylish enough to wear anywhere and at this price are unbeatable! Love 'em, and will buy more as I continue to down size.
