Signature Elite ES10 Satellite Surround Speakers, High-Resolution, Hi-Fi, Dolby Atmos & DTS:X Compatible, Wall-Mountable (Pair) - White

Reviewing the POLK AUDIO ES10 Surround speakers I ordered the ES10 surround speakers on Wednesday morning to be delivered on monday and they were delivered today. I am very pleased at how quickly they were delivered. I have seen one video review on here where somebody expects the ES10 to have some sort of bass. If they read the specs of the epeaker before buying they would realise the speakers are rated to 78Hz - 40KHz (the manual states 78Hz but their website states 80Hz so its any one of the two). 78Hz is closer to the mid range frequency than it is to bass. I tested these with my SONY STR DN1020 with 14 AWG 99.99% OFC speaker cable and good banana plugs. I played a few different genres of music at a reasonable volume. I didn't want to turn up the volume too much until the speakers are broken in. There is indeed very little bass with these speakers. The bass sounds more like deep midrange. But with a 4" speaker I wouldn't expect there to be any bass. I was not expecting any bass from these. I am not an audiophile of any sort. I've had a good few types of speakers over the past 33 years. I am very very impressed with the sound from these speakers. Theres good Trebble and very good midrange frequencies to my ears. I dont have any equipment to do any frequency tests. I know some people rely on these sound tests with graphs for their speaker buying but those mean nothing to me. I rely on my ears. I didn't buy the ES10 to be my main front speakers though. I bought these to replace a pair of rubbish SONY sattelite speakers that came with a sony HT ST20 soundbar that I have been using with about 5 or 6 years. I needed a pair of compact surround sound speakers that would sound good and surround sound speakers don't need to have bass. I have been using these with a few hours now in my 5.1 system and they bring my system to life. Even though I'm using the rubbish thin speaker cable that came with the SONY speakers for about a week until I can afford to buy good speaker cable. What convinced me to buy POLK speakers is I was using a POLK REACT with the SR2 surrounds and subwoofer for just over a year and I loved the sound from it. After hearing the sound from the ES10 I will be replacing the other 3 speakers in my system and I will be buying the ES90 when I upgrade to a DOLBY atmos AV receiver. But I will be ceiling mounting the ES90 speakers. I am also considering replacing my YAMAHA NS SW300 subwoofer with a POLK subwoofer but I haven't seen any reviews of the POLK subwoofers yet. My SONY STR DN1020 is a very old amp now and I need to upgrade it some time this year when I can. I've orderd a pair of decent speaker stands for them which will be here next week. The speaker stands I have now are the key hole hook type that are very unstable with the speakers on them. I just need to order the speaker cable next week. I'll probably go with 12AWG for a 25 foot run from the AV reciever to one of the speakers and 15 fot run to the other and I have good banana plugs to go with the cable. TLDR These are fantastic speakers. I wanted to buy them last week but they were over €220 at the time. But when I looked on wednesday they were €180 so I jumped at the opportunity to buy them. I have absolutely no regrets buying these. I would highly recommend you buy the ES10 speakers if you need surround sound speakers. Just remember theres very little bass with these.

I used these for rear surrounds. But after listening to them, they have a full range and could easily be used as fronts on a small system

Necesitaba un sistema de sonido para la estancia, donde me siento a trabajar de home office. Este pequeño par de altavoces me sorprendió con su sonido, equilibrado y abierto. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para un sistema de escritorio.

With a small sub, they're dang near perfect. I use them in my office for near-field listening. For their size, they perform above their weight class. The soundstage and imaging are stellar. The height imaging could be better, but these are small cabinets, and I know I'm asking a lot of them. I use better "chi-fi" equipment to run them. I have two Fosi ZA 3 running in mono with a douk T8 pro equalizer. I use an SMSL DO200MKII DAC for signal processing and an SMSL PO100PRO to take advantage of the 12S input on my DAC. I use XLR balanced cables for connections. (Yeah, I'm that guy.) I use a cheap Energy subwoofer for that tiny bit of oomph I need for bass. Spending the time to get the crossover freq right and speaker placement paid huge dividends. I also use a Wiim Ultra to process signals from wifi sources. A special treat is using my Fiio M17 DAP for hi-res recordings; I usually use Amazon Music in Ultra HD for day-to-day listening. Back to the speakers- the tweeter does a great job of mids and highs without being too shrill. It's incredible what the 4" woofer can do, especially with the tuned port on the back. I agonized a bit over their price. I kept waiting for a sale, but finally pulled the trigger on them. I'm glad I did. Hopefully, they go on sale, and I can enjoy a Boxing Day Discount. If you're using lower-end audio equipment, I wouldn't hesitate to buy these and start improving your system from there. If your speakers are the "weakest link" in your audio stack? Grab a pair of these. They're well built, and the fit and finish is top-notch. The magnetic grills are a nice touch.

Very nice quality. My customer loves them. Physically small but audibly beautiful. (If your music or viewing habits require more bass, couple a subwoofer with these).
