- Accurate Soil Moisture Detection: The XLUX Soil Moisture Meter can tell you if the soil deep inside your pot or garden is dry, moist or wet; whereas your eyes and fingers can only determine the moisture level of the soil surface. The probe is 5.5 inches (14 cm) longer than regular styles, allowing it to measure the soil moisture at the bottom of larger and deeper flower pots.
- Easy-to-Read Large Dial: The large dial is easy to read and includes three zones with ten scales, making it very straightforward to understand.
- Immediate Moisture Reading: Insert the probe into the soil, and without waiting, the dial will immediately display the moisture level. You can then decide whether your plant needs watering based on the measurement. Do not leave this moisture meter in the soil for more than 5 minutes, as the metal tip will gradually corrode.
- Less Damage: A single probe causes less damage to plant roots compared to double or multiple probes, and when you remove the probe after testing, it won't bring out much soil.
- Usage Precautions: Do not use it to test very hard soil. Do not test water or other liquids. After testing, please wipe the probe clean.
- IMPORTANT: MEDIA DENSITY & POROSITY This meter is designed for standard potting soil. If you are using loose or airy media (such as pure perlite, pumice, pine bark, or orchid mix), the probe may not make sufficient physical contact with the substrate. Symptom: The dial remains at "0" or shows inconsistent readings even if the media is damp. Solution: Firmly pack or compress the media around the probe to ensure the sensor is in direct contact with the moisture-holding particles.

**Q: Do the 0-10 tallies correlate to percentage?  So is 2 equal to 20% moisture?**
A: 2 is equal to 2% moisture

**Q: If my plant falls under the 0-3 red category, does that mean I only water it when the meter indicates that’s where the soil is at?**
A: Yes you want to keep your plant in the Red Zone, if you’re are getting passed the Red Zone (4-10) you are over watering. You don’t want to pass up 3 and don’t add water again until you reach 1

**Q: Has anyone found this guide off?  some of the plants listed for the high moisture range are ones that all other guides say should be low?**
A: I didn’t use the “guide”.  My only reason for buying the item was to test the moisture in the soil.  As far as the moisture differences in what this or that plant requires, I just Google it and research a little.

**Q: I'm not sure i understand the guide on the back of the box for each plant.  is it suggesting what the moisture should be for each plant? please elabor**
A: As long as the needle on the tester goes up half way at least, then there is plenty of moisture. There is no set number for how much moister each type of plant needs. I have used one for at least 10 yrs and it has always kept things just right, as well as telling me when I need to water.

Seems pretty accurate on all of my plants. I checked 2 that I transplanted yesterday and what watered well to verify the accuracy of the moisture content and it was pretty accurate. I like that it is long enough to check my large planters, as well. Simple to use, portable, no batteries needed... what's not to like?!
