Excellent for Lower-Calorie Baking โ My Banana Bread Turned Out Great
I bought this oat fiber specifically to experiment with lower-calorie baking, and it has turned out to be extremely useful. Iโve been particularly happy with it in banana bread because I can replace a portion of the regular flour with oat fiber while still getting a moist, satisfying loaf. One important thing I learned is that oat fiber is very absorbent, so I wouldnโt treat it as a 1:1 replacement for flour. A relatively small amount goes a long way. In my banana bread, 1/4 cup has been a great balance when combined with regular all-purpose flour, Greek yogurt, and ripe bananas. The powder is finely ground and easy to incorporate into the dry ingredients. I havenโt noticed an unpleasant flavor coming through in the finished bread, and the resealable 1.5-pound bag should last quite a while considering how little I need for each recipe. Here is the lower-calorie banana bread recipe Iโve been using with it:3 medium ripe bananas1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour1/4 cup Anthonyโs oat fiber3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt1 egg1/3 cup zero-calorie sweetener1 tsp vanilla extract1 tsp baking soda1/2 tsp baking powder1 tsp cinnamon1/4 tsp saltUp to 2 Tbsp skim or unsweetened almond milk, only if neededMash the bananas, then mix in the Greek yogurt, egg, sweetener, and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients separately and gently fold them into the wet mixture. The batter should be thick but still spoonable, so I only add a little milk if it needs it.Bake in a lined 8x4-inch loaf pan at 350ยฐF for about 50โ60 minutes, then let it cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing. I usually cut mine into 10 slices, which works out to roughly 108 calories per slice with the ingredients I use. This has been an excellent way to add oat fiber to recipes without completely changing the texture or flavor. If youโre experimenting with lower-calorie baking, I think this is one of those ingredients that is absolutely worth keeping in the pantry. The bag is large enough to last through a lot of recipes, and Iโll definitely continue using it.

It's a great, affordable fiber.
What can you say about fiber! It's fiber, it works as you'd expect fiber to, and it's affordable. It doesn't have any detectable flavor, and it doesn't get slimy. Easy to add to shakes, baked goods, and probably lots of ways I haven't thought of or tried yet. An easy way to get more fibber into. your diet.

Great fiber boost
I've bought this several times now and will keep doing so. It's flavorless and chalky by itself of course, but mixing it into recipes is easy as it disappears. It's a super fine powder, not grainy, so it mixes in nicely. I add it to my protein shakes and as an alternative thickener/dry ingredient in my salmon patty recipe to boost fiber without adding more regular flour carbs. As I mentioned it disappears into whatever you add it to, so it would be great addition to baked goods, casseroles, gravies, breading/coating, etc. or anything you might put flour in (but not a flour replacement). Since I don't add to a ton of things, this size bag lasts a long time. On average it takes me a couple of years to get through one bag. Worth the cost vs buying powdered fiber additives intended for protein shakes and digestive regularity.

I've been using Anthony's products now in my baking for nearly three years. They are consistently high-quality and I can always rely on them to create everything from muffins and cookies to breads and waffles. Unlike many other similar products, they have never let me down.

Great product
I mistakenly used this in place of oat flour in my oatmeal cookies as I put the wrong labelled lid on my canister. I baked them anyway. They turned out to be a great oatmeal fibre cookie!! And gluten free if you use gluten free oats. A couple of these and they are better than metamucil!!! And not hard on your system as well. Regarding the calorie content - this fibre is not digested BUT the government regulations makes them put the calorie count on it anyway, even though you donโt really digest it. (Google how they determine the calorie content of things). I learned this from Metamucil when I wrote to them about why there were calories in their Metamucil.
