Awesome, a story of a man's dream birthing into reality. The beginning of the journey is so important as it only lasts a day at a time and fades into memories. The beginning like Genesis in the Bible is of the utmost importance, as it inspires, and helps others get a start on their dreams. Personally this is much more important than a how too book.. how too's, you need in the moment. This type of book you must have to help in the transition from dreamer, to doing it. One may not have the faith in oneself, but knowing another's story, a successful story is very powerful. Now I got to go get land before this book sells it all.... great job....

I got this book to read the story of how John got started for very little money on his homestead. He shows us what's possible if you're determined to go off grid and start a simple life out in the high desert.I recommend getting this book and then going to his You Tube channel where he has a playlist of all his videos from start to the most recent. John's personable writing style is basically the same way he speaks in his videos.Great book and I love his blue and red teas. I still have to try the green tea but I'm sure its as good as the others. Nice work, John!

First of all I gave 5 stars because of the detail and matter-of-fact style the author writes in. This book illustrates what one can expect under less than ideal circumstances. THAT, in my humble opinion, is PRICELESS! A real world example of what I believe many of us want to do but are hesitant for one reason or another. I look forward to other works from the author.

I follow John on you tube and have been wanting to read this book for a while. I wanted to give it 5 stars but I feel like he left a lot out, compared to what he shares on you tube. As I read, I could envision his property and knew what he was referring to because of his you tube channel. There are some spelling and grammar mistakes but it’s self published. John, if you read this, consider adding an appendix or define your acronyms in the sentence. Overall, good read.

John has written a book that is a combination of how to homestead/offgrid on the cheap and how to overcome in life. Tons of good practical information for gathering food, water and shelter with very few resources. He explains in detail how much water per inch of rainfall you can expect, how safely store your water, how to grow and store your food, and how to have shelter in remote locations. His personal story is very inspiring, and he has overcome a lot of obstacles, and makes all my excuses seem irrelevant. Easy read, well organized. Well done, John!

John's book gives an unvarnished look at homesteading in Northern Arizona with valuable information for homesteading anywhere. A very enjoyable read with first person, experienced, straightforward information and good photos illustrating the text. I recommend this book to people considering homesteading so they will be prepared from the start and current homesteaders for possible improvements on their current systems. Thank you, John, for all the practical and frugal direction. Even if funds are unlimited I believe creating a homestead frugally, from scratch is much more satisfying.

I was touched by the author's story. I admire the way he overcame adversity and is building a life that makes him happy. It has started me thinking about doing something with a small piece of property I own. :)I have been watching the author's videos for a while now, and the book reads just like he speaks. Reading it was like hearing him talk directly to me. I really enjoyed it and I am sure I will be reading it again.

I loved the book. It was a nice quick read ( not really quick if you research some items as you go, take note ), that I will always go back too.I like how he tells you the first things he did on the homestead.I watch him on YouTube and I've been looking into alternative living and off grid for over 3 years now so I wasn't completely new to this and I still learned something new!Do some simple structures to get going and later you can change it.Can't wait to read the new ones. 😍OH AND THE RED TEA IS BOMB

Loved the story with the pictures to show the description. Great way to see how he built his off grid ranch with almost no cash. Building a on line business to help support his dreams!
