I have had mine since April 2017. My laundry room is small so I know there is some humidity involved. I have had no issues with mine rusting. Now I do not keep this on the washer or dryer. I have a tiny table against the opposite wall that I can get to easily. It stays dry. I actually love this container. I use it almost daily. The scoop is perfect. I hope this helps.

Can you put the laundry powder straight in this or does it have to be in a plastic bag?

I put the laundry powder straight into the container, no bag. Haven’t had any issues.

Is there a mesurement on the scoop?

No there is no visible measurement. However, I used the scoop to measure laundry powder. It came to exactly 1/3 cup.
