Who would steal a gas cap?
That actually happened, which is why I looked for one that locks. Upon arrival, I thought this gas cap was broken because I couldn't get it to lock. Naturally I called amazon to see about a replacement. It wasn't until going through a youtube video that I realized what was the problem. Thereafter, I got it to work and so far so good. An instruction manual would be a good idea, but otherwise, I'm happy with this gas cap.

Perfect for getting yourself stranded sometime
I purchased this for my Jeep Wrangler because it doesn't have a door covering the gas cap. I was concerned about someone being able to either steal my gas, or put something harmful in my gas tank. The latching mechanism on this cap is so poorly made, that it is not a matter of if, but more like when this is going to lock you out. I had problems with it during my practice of opening and locking it. It will occasionally trap your key in it while it's still locked in place. This is not something you'd want to happen at a gas station. After a few minutes of shaking it, jiggling it, and swearing at it, then it will usually let go of the key. That is not my idea of a good time, so I ditched this cap immediately and purchased a locking fuel door cover. That's what I should have done in the first place, but hopefully someone can learn from my mistake.

Works like to OEM cap ..... no codes displayed after installation .....suggest putting the key someplace than on your key chain ...... so as not to have a fist full of keys when trying to get the gas cap off ..... a bit of a hassle ......

The key is short and makes it hard to open
I purchased 2 caps for two 2004 Dodge Stratus coupe. Someone siphoned gas out of one of our car. The caps installed easily, the only problem I have is unlocking it. The key is too short and it only fits in one way, so you have to try a couple of times to open it. I purchased a cap for my toyota and it was made my AC Delco the key was longer it had a black plastic head on the key, it made it easy to open. , it didn’t make a difference if the key was top or bottom.

Works on a 2010 Ford Ranger XLT 4 lt, 4WD.
It works and hasn't set off the leak sensor in the OBD2 system. I have had locking caps in the past that suggested they were up to OEM specifications fail the on board diagnostics gas evaporation test. Then the check engine light turned on.

Make sure you have patience take two or three tries
Easy to get on but to get it to lock on and seal so check engine light don't come on hard to do takes a few trys goes on easy but have to keep pulling it see of it pops off of does start all over don't want air getting into it.if you don't mind the air getting into it just dump your gas on ground instead be about the same but really if u don't mind messing with it a few times you can get it on and work well when u do
