Love this tool, a friend had one in her house and after using it there I had to buy one. The pick ax is especially good for cutting through the rock-hard dirt found in Phoenix, I use the shovel part to clear out soil from the hole. Negative is the green rubber handle came off the shaft, I put it back but it isn't stuck - I might have to glue it back.

i only have used the pointed end but it is invaluable for digging out a lot of pesky weeds by the roots. I love that it is all one piece of metal; no wedges to lose, like in the wood handled ones with separate head! Sturdy, durable, feels good in the hand - ergonomically comfortable - recommended on arthritis sites - and I will use this a lot. Was so glad when I borrowed a friend's that the label on there was still legible enough to read "yard butler" and find one for myself!

This is the best garden tool anywhere. I absolutely love it. I had one for years that I used and used until it fell apart (actually, I was trying to pry up a large rock and the handle broke off!!) This tool improves on the last because it has all steel construction so the handle won't break off, and a nice rubber grip. I am lost without this tool, so my sweet hubby bought me two, in case I misplace one. I use it a lot for planting and prying up rocks, but it also helps for weeding and numerous other activities.

This versatile tool is perfect for: - eradicating stubborn weeds, and long runner rooted pests, like crabgrass. You attack the head of the plant with the more pointed end, continue along the runner, and then take out the deeper host root with the broad end of the tool, wicked. - troughing earth and planting seeds and young plants. The more pointed end of this tool is downward sloping as you use it, so it sheds whatever kind of dirt you are working with, including wet clay. The broader end is versatile in digging wider holes, and moving young plants gently and efficiently. I love it, built like a tank and takes whatever nasty job I throw at it.

Very light. I was replacing a cast iron tool. This could be very useful in light soil but not so hot in my clay.

Very sturdy, & one of the handiest tools for my yard work. The small spade end allows for chopping weeds around trees & in tight areas, while the pick end will go deep enough to reach the roots.
