Best Rival to the Apple watch
I have never used an Apple Watch but have seen a lot of videos on YouTube. Enough to know that the Watch4 is just as good. I have had Fitbit fitness trackers as well as Samsung's Active and Active 2 44mm. I had originally purchased directly from Samsung the smaller 40mm Watch4 and found the battery to be pants. I returned it to get a replacement in the hope that the next one was going to be better but they were out of stock and gave me my money back. Purchased the bigger 44mm one direct from Amazon and it came with prime 2 days later. Well done Amazon for a speedy delivery. WOW just WOW. Firstly the battery is so much better. I can get a day out of it now and that includes sleep tracking. As for steps this does not count as many as a Fitbit and makes some adjustments for the fact that you wear this on your wrist. Wrist-based step counters need to adjust so that it doesn't count every single wrist movement as a step even when you don't step. I love that the screen and sensors have been improved/upgraded. There is now a BIA (bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor) that measures body compositions from body water to body fat to skeletal muscle. I don't get too serious with the numbers as long as I can move from the red into the green is fine with me. I love that I can now use more apps with this device such as shazam. This is claimed to be operated as wear OS powered by Samsung. This means most things such as step, sleep and exercise tracking is done through Samsung. If you want it to be more like wear OS you can install the relevant Google apps such as Google fit. Personally coming from and Active 2 I love that this is a hybrid of the best of Tizen OS with the best of wear OS. Best smartwatch ever. Best Apple Watch rival yet. DO NOT GET IF YOU HAVE A iPHONE AS THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH AN iPHONE. Overall WOW.

A few things to tweak before it's usable but otherwise a great product
Overall, this is a watch that gets a thumbs-up from me. I'm not overly interested in all of the fitness tracking features. I'm unfit, I already know it and I have a job that keeps me busy 8 days a week leaving me no time whatsoever for working out. What I do use is the sleep monitoring function with blood oxygen level monitoring. This works a lot better than other smartwatches I've owned. The back of the Galaxy Watch 4 is smooth, so it fits snugly against the wrist without leaving an imprint and is able to able to take accurate blood oxygen level readings. Plenty of people have left bad reviews of this watch because of its poor battery life. On the whole I'm getting 3 days out of a full charge with moderate use, "always on" switched off and "Bedtime" mode scheduled to kick in automatically at night. Can't complain about that. The display is crisp with great contrast. The brightness adjustment depending on ambient lighting levels is effective and much appreciated. The touch screen is mostly responsive, only a few cases of lag or missed touches. Google Pay works after a bit of tweaking. The default payment app will always be Samsung Pay, but at least it is now possible to install and use GPay here in the UK. There are some localities where this is not possible and where you're stuck with Samsung Pay. For the things that need tweaking... Firstly, I put an after market strap on the watch. I don't get on with resin straps at all. They always make me come out in a rash and then crack and break on me, and I don't want to lose the watch because of that. A leather strap went on straight away. Secondly, the watch face. Maybe it's just me being a luddite but I do like a watch face that looks like a watch, not like something out of an animรฉ cartoon that I grew out of about 50 years ago. The out-of-the-box setup is not what I would want to use, but it is not hard to set the watch up to work how you want it.

Great watch but battery life poor
Overall this is a nice watch with some great features. I haven't been a fan of watches in general as I often find them uncomfortable and just annoying to have on my wrist. This however is extremely comfortable and I don't really notice it on my wrist. I also love the design. Nice good quality screen which I find just the right size. The watch is also fairly easy to navigate and simple to use. It also has some great features. I love that you can take and receive phone calls with it which is handy for me as I live in a 3 story house meaning that sometimes my phone is on the top floor and Im say in the kitchen cooking. I can leave my phone upstairs but can still take or receive a call or message using the watch. Its also handy that I can use it to make or receive a call when Im driving using the bixby feature. I can just press and hold the top right button and ask it to call a contact and it will call them. The pay app (I use Samsung pay) is also excellent and convenient. Spotify is also a useful app to use when im in the gym. It saves me having to keep getting my phone out if I want to switch songs etc. The only problem is that firstly the app is at times a little unreliable as it sometimes seems to lose connection with my bluetooth ear phones. I've also noticed exessive battery drain when using the app. This brings me on to the main negative of this watch which is the battery life. Even when employing all the battery saving techniques such as wifi and location off, AOD off, heart rate measuring off and a dull low power consuming watch face mongst others, I'm still only just about getting 2 days battery life with minimal use which seems very poor. It does however fully charge from 0% to 100% in about 1hr and 40 mins using my samsung fast charger which s reasonably fast charging. I have also noticed issues with the sleep measuring. It was working ok for a few days but then for no apparent reason it has stopped giving me a sleep score. I dont know if this is an issue with the watch or the health app. I have a Samsung galaxy s21 ultra which is one of the reasons I wanted a Samsung watch over other brands as I believe some features work better with a Samsung phone and others possibly dont work at all. Overall it's a nice watch and I'm happy with it. It's just a shame about the battery life. I would that this could be improved with updates.

Great smartwatch
The watch is great in many respects, looks great, sounds clear and offers lots of great features. The ability to get WhatsApp and SMS texts to the watch is superb. Being able to control Spotify from my wrist rather than take out my phone from my pocket it excellent. Works a treat with Samsung Buds Live too. Size I went for the 40mm for a 16.5cm wrist - for slender wrists this is the right size. Choice of watch faces is good and the screen is perfectly readable in direct sunlight. Samsung Pay works flawlessly with my HSBC card. Easy to set-up and one simple NFC tap to pay. Used in on bike rides to track distance and it produces accurate distances and also nice route maps. Body composition seems spot on too, good for everything so it must be right :P Battery life is over a day which to me is perfectly acceptable, I plonk it on it's charger on my bedside table each night. Overall very impressed and would recommend wholeheartedly

The best Android watch by far
Firstly, this is without doubt the best Android watch you can buy. It's fast, it's slick and it looks great on your wrist. If you're looking for a watch for iOS this isn't it as it isn't compatible. Why you'd want an Android watch for your iOS device is odd anyway. Also to take full advantage of what the watch offers you really need a Samsung phone, that should be obvious though. Coming from the original galaxy watch this is a huge improvement and it runs on wear os which was developed jointly by Samsung and Google. So disregard the review that states it isn't running wear os, it is (see photos for proof) It has the Google play store (a wear os feature) installed so you can install a greater amount of apps compared to what you got on Tizen OS. You can automatically sync your phone apps to the watch so you don't need to go and download them individually. The health functions and sensors are also greatly improved over the previous iterations. The watch measures body composition using a technique called bioelectrical impedance analysis which is pretty accurate. You've also got a ton of watch faces to choose from on the play store and they look a lot better than the Tizen variants imo. Battery life is around 2 days which is on par with the previous watches so no real change there. If you're in the market for a new Samsung watch then I highly recommend the galaxy watch 4, you won't be disappointed.

Easy to set up and use
It's very easy to use, love the clock faces. Step counting seems to be more accurate than previous tracker I had. It doesn't record every time I turn over on bed! Haven't yet checked if it adds steps when I am driving. The only slightly unsatisfactory aspect is the battery life, it doesn't last 2 full days. I have turned off things I don't use and changed display to respond to touch rather than wrist movement. It will last about a day and a half. I haven't had it a week yet so still getting to know all about it. First impression, I love it!

Don't be misled by other reviews.
First things first. It's a Samsung watch... The number of reviews I've seen where people have moaned that it doesn't work well with iPhone is crazy. If you've got an iPhone, try an Apple watch or a fitbit. Secondly, ignore the comments about the battery not lasting a day etc. I've been wearing it for 14 hours today and it's still got over 70% left. The trick is to give it a full charge before you even turn it on for the first time to condition the battery. Some people didn't read the instructions, it's wise to charge things before using them first. It works great, I like how if you clear a notification on your watch or phone, it clears it on the other as well so you don't have to do both. It works quickly, it looks great and is a great upgrade on the fitbit it replaces. You can add more apps to the ones that come with it so you don't have to use the default music app or Samsung pay which is nice to see among other things. Also, if your bank doesn't support Samsung pay, don't bother downloading Curve in order to use it unless you want to. They'll send you one of their own cards without asking you and you'll have to use their virtual card to make payments. It's much easier to just download Google Pay and set a shortcut for it with the power button.

Great! but...
This watch is a great fitness tracker and has many wonderful customization features which I enjoy. The screen is surprisingly good and it is easy to navigate even without the bezel that the classic offers. I wear it every day and it is comfortable and I haven't experienced any irritation of my skin as others have said. was surprised because if you do any type of workout, the watch identifies it and tells you after 10 minutes. It is a great choice and I highly recommend it. However the only downside is the battery, after a full day, the watch is at around 36% so I have to charge it before going to sleep if I want to use the sleep tracking feature which I love as it can tell you how you can improve. Despite the large availability of apps, I would like to see social media apps such as Twitter or Instagram be available for download, currently, they can only be accessed through the very efficient web browser. I would recommend this to everyone I know and I am very pleased with it and with how it has helped me with my overall fitness.
