The Oxford English Dictionary for Schools is easy to use with clear signposting, accessible design, and expertly levelled definitions and examples, making it the perfect language resource for school work and studying at home. It has been updated extensively to include even more Grade 6-9 curriculum vocabulary and is ideal for students preparing for GCSEs and other exams. New words and phrases include cloud computing, coronavirus, mental health, podcast, web developer and zero carbon. It is powered by the Oxford Children's Corpus, a unique electronic database of millions of words written by and for children, which means that the vocabulary is presented in a way that is both accessible and stretching. There are also lots of additional features to support students acquiring a broader vocabulary, such as language panels for project work, related words and antonyms, usage notes for confusable words, and interesting word origins. It also contains real example sentences from the best children's books and teenage fiction, which show students how to use language effectively. There are inspiring examples from authors such as David Almond, Philip Pullman, William Golding, Anthony Horowitz, Beverley Naidoo, and many more from the curriculum reading lists. Free downloadable learning resources, word games, puzzles, and much more are available for additional online support at a href="https://languages.oup.com/dictionaries/oxford-dictionaries-for-children/" www.oxforddictionaries.com/schools/a.

Great buy!
Easy to understand for my 12 year old son.. I bought the hard back cover for durability. Well satisfied. Turks and Caicos customer.

Old school Google
I asked a LOT of questions as a kid, so my exasperated (and possibly brilliant!) mom got me Oxford school dictionary and told me there I would find the meaning of many of the words I was curious about. I ended up just flipping through and learning so much. FFWD 20+ years, I found myself struggling to define words for my own curious girl and that memory just came flooding back. I decided to get her her own dictionary. I’ve taught her how to look up words, sometimes we’ll look up words together, now she’ll go find them herself, or tell her dad “let’s look it up😄”The next step for me was the Encyclopedia, I guess I’ll have to instruct on search engines and reliable sources next (she’s 5)

Great for definitions but only if the word is in it
What's good: clear concise definitions without extraneous crapWhat's bad: too many common words missing

Perfect for children - great price!
Bought for €1.57... a bargain! The cover was slightly bent, apart from that, it's in a perfect condition even if it was considered acceptable.
