The directions that come with the drive are rather vague, but that should not be a problem for those familiar with setting up accessories like this one. The drive itself seems delicate, and care must be taken loading disks, but it has functioned perfectly so far playing and copying three DVDs of old home movies, with a lot of starts and stops for re-viewing and note-taking. There was some difficulty at first getting the computer to recognize the drive and the drive tray to open so I could insert a disk. Pushing the button in front would not open the tray, and I had to use the manual method (paperclip end inserted into tiny hole in front of drive). Once it had a disk the button worked to open the tray. Then when the disk was loaded again the computer recognized the disk drive. From there, it was possible to play a disk (I downloaded the VLC media player for that purpose), and copy and burn video and audio files from it to another disk; also to eject disks from the drive just by the "safely remove hardware and eject media" icon on the Windows 10 desktop. If you are a newbie to burning disks there are good tutorials online, and the StyEAST web site also answers queries promptly. So far so good. I'm giving only four stars here because more helpful directions packaged with the device would have made setup easier.

didn't work at first and I contacted the seller who replied quickly and their suggestion worked. I have to use the Y adapter on my laptop and my son's high power gaming PC, I wish it worked with just the attached cable though. It comes with a pouch to put the drive in and I like that.

Quickly detected optical drive and works well on both a PC and Mac. Can easily rip CDs and play DVDs. iTunes for Windows had problems seeing the drive but iTunes for Mac did not have this problem so I suspect this is a Windows or iTunes problem and not the drive.

I having a problem getting my Asus Chromebox to see the DVD Drive. When I put in software My screen shows the drive avialable, then nothing after that.

It worked perfect. I am really happy with this unit.
