Treasure Hunters: The Walker Boys Adventure Series

If you like action and adventure stories that teach important lessons, you'll love this book.
Jess Walker does a good job of writing a story that's entertaining and also teaches some important lessons to children. The story is well written and engaging, and the lesson sections are long enough to provide valuable information to kids but short enough that kids won't lose interest in the story. The only negative thing I noticed is at the very end, the last few paragraphs were (probably accidentally) repeated. Other than that I think anyone who enjoys action and adventure stories will enjoy this book.

Great informative book for children
I love how this book has a story that can keep a child’s attention and also includes numerous safety tips for real life. It’s very well written and the illustrations are fantastic as well!

A Fun Children’s Mystery & Adventure Filled With Heart
This book reminds me a lot of the classic Hardy Boys books mixed with a 90’s Disney Channel Series. Which is what gives it such a wonderful charm. The artwork inside will make any child smile, cheer, and laugh at different times. And the main characters are a joy to read. Though, I will say Jerry was my personal favorite.

Can't Wait for Additional Titles!
My son absolutely loved this book. He couldn't put it down. We used it for homeschool recreational time and it was a blast. We can't wait to download additional titles from the series!

Great book full of good advice
My son found it comforting to read the parts about bullying as he has been bullied in the before. It gave some pretty cools tips and suggestions.

I'm an adult and I enjoyed reading this
Most of the book was focused on bullying and dealing with difficult or interesting external situations as kids but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this regardless. I loved how each chapter first starts off with (or continues with) a story, followed by the important moral/lesson behind that story. A few of the images were oddly formatted but the illustrations kept me engaged. The author's tone was also very engaging! Whether you have a child or not, this book will not bore you!Honestly, my favorite part is how random some of the lessons appear to unfold (which keeps me guessing) - from dealing with bullies to handling dogs and bears, the randomness of it all kept this read interesting and entertaining for me.

A solid choice for teaching safety skills to elementary schoolers
This is book consisting of short chapters with periodic illustrations. I can see this being a good easy chapter book to read to kids. The lessons at the end of each chapter will definitely spark discussion, and are a natural way to teach kids about safety. Each chapter has a section at the end where the author discusses the lessons readers should learn from that chapter. For example, one chapter involves characters using a boat to cross a river. The section at the end of that chapter is about boat safety, and the importance of always wearing a life jacket. The lessons at the end of each chapter are generally well written and useful, in a way that didn't feel condescending. The plot of the book itself is fairly interesting. Our protagonists (and also one of their friends) find a treasure map and go to look for it. The beginning and the end chapters are easily the weakest parts of the book - there's some confusing bits there, and overall it feels like those two chapters were tacked on at the end, and a bit out of place. However, the middle of the book - the treasure hunt portion of the story - is compelling, and I think elementary schoolers would enjoy it.The book is also punctuated by periodic illustrations. The hand drawn illustrations are uniformly excellent - they're drawn well, they're interesting to look at, and placed at good points in the story. However, occasionally (especially during the "safety lessons" part of the chapter) there will be what looks like clip art used to illustrate a point (ex: clip art of a boat). The art style is so different from the hand-drawn illustrations that it just feels jarring.

Teaching and entertaining, even if it's a bit generic
I like how the chapters end with a lesson, making the reader start to pay more attention to the psychology of the story rather than just the plot and characters. There are a lot of recycled tropes, and the formatting is a little strange occasionally. However, the photos help engage the story, which isn't bad.-Michael Lacey, Devo Writers author
