To prevent spotting and fading and assist removal should the fablric be moistened with water first ?

I have never moistened any of the fabrics with water first, and I've successfully used K2R for years to get oil-based and other difficult to remove stains out of many types of different materials of washable clothing, although I do have my own 'standard routine' that I use to ensure it all comes out in the washer (K2R, let dry, use the brush, spray with Zout, dot with laundry detergent and rub into the spot, then wash normally). Rarely fails - only time it hasn't worked was with very heavy staining from working on cars with heavy grease/brake dust.
