K512 RGB Membrane Gaming Keyboard, 6 Macro Keys & Easy Media Wheel

I prefer a membrane keyboard, but after briefly trying a mechanical keyboard, I realized I was more accurate with my keystrokes and could type faster when I was using a mechanical keyboard. So, I tried the Redragon Yama, which I liked well enough but it was too loud. I have migraines and ADHD, so not only is noise from a mechanical keyboard distracting but it can also lead to painful headaches. Sound dampening O-rings made no difference on that keyboard and the switches could not be changed out without soldering. So I returned the Yama and purchased this Shiva, hoping that the faux-mechanical style might be the perfect middle ground for me. I LOVE this keyboard! It does feel like a bit like a mechanical keyboard in the amount of force required to press the keys and the tactile feedback with the keys popping back up again. But, the keys are also soft or cushy, which people who really enjoy mechanical keyboards may not like. The closest switch I can think of are maybe the Cherry MX Reds. Maybe the silent ones especially? It's not quite as springy or crisp as a Cherry Brown, for sure. You can tell it's a membrane due to the soft actuation, but this is a bonus for me and not a drawback. Maybe one day I will be a pro gamer who wants the clickety clack, but that is not this day. Sound wise, it's not the quietest keyboard I've ever used, but it is very very close. The sound of typing full speed on this keyboard is similar to quiet rain on a window. It's pleasant rather than distracting to me. With my noise-blocking headset on, I don't hear it at all. No one can hear the keystrokes on Discord. My husband's mechanical keyboard has Cherry Blue switches and everyone on Discord complains about the sound, and the Yama had the equivalent of Cherry Browns and they could hear those, too. No complaints about this keyboard, though. Some things I wish this keyboard did have: fully conflict-free keys. They're unlikely to ever make a fully conflict free version of this keyboard because if you want that feature, you probably also want mechanical. I'm in the minority. But man, that would make it almost perfect. And more customizable LEDs would be the only other thing I would ask for. Most of Redragon's products don't have fully customizable LED situations, which doesn't bother me a ton. But the Yama had a light scene that I really liked: when you pressed a key, it would light up a random color. I also like being able to customize only specific keys lighting up, like WASD, the map key, etc. With a fully conflict free keyboard, they could allow that customization and make my day. Some day I will splurge on a metal-frame keyboard with raised Cherry Red Silent switches, but until then this faux mechanical keyboard is a low cost alternative that I really enjoy.

I got this one back in September 2020 and used it as my daily keyboard for about five years. It still worked fine when I retired it, which says a lot for a membrane board at this price. What finally pushed me to replace it was cosmetic. The legends on the most used keys wore down over those five years to the point where they were hard to read. The keyboard itself never failed. I also broke one keycap myself pulling it off to clean underneath, so that one's on me and not the product, but the keycaps aren't the sturdiest part if you plan on removing them often. The media wheel is the feature I ended up appreciating most. Volume control on a physical wheel is something I now refuse to give up, and it's part of why I stayed with this line. I liked it enough that when I replaced it, I bought the same keyboard again in white. That's the strongest recommendation I can give.

Update 1.5 year later: Keyboard is still going and now I only using it for gaming. My only complaint is that my spacebar key has gotten rather loud. When I'm typing with this keyboard and I hit the space, it's so loud and almost sounds like there's a janky spring in there recoiling in a cruddy manner. Other than that, it's still going strong and the rest of the keys aren't too loud. It finally came time to say goodbye to my Corsair mechanical keyboard. The ICUE software that Corsair products require is absolutely junk. I HAD to have the software running for my headset to work with Discord, but running the software kept randomly disconnecting my keyboard, rendering it useless despite hours of troubleshooting. I know and love Redragon and I'm on a tight budget right now. I got lucky and the Shiva keyboard was on sale, so I snagged one up. I have no regrets in buying this keyboard. Quality: the keyboard it's not too heavy, but feels pretty sturdy. The cord is braided and feels tough. Sound: very quiet for being a gaming keyboard. It's sound is pleasing and not deafening for those I'm in discord with. Feedback/feel: the keys feel smooth, but also give a little feedback that feels similar to a mechanical keyboard. The responsiveness of the key presses is lightning fast. Appearance: this is a nice keyboard to look at. The RGB lights are easy to adjust to your liking and the instruction manual gives clear instructions on how to do it. The magnetic wrist rest is also nice and visually appealing. Overall impression: I am quite pleased with this purchase. It's not too big or too small. Fits nicely on my desk and looks good. This keyboard is used for work and gaming and does great for both. I have been using Redragon products for years. I have owned an Impact M908 MMO mouse for several years and it's quality, comfort and affordability are great. I added the Anvil GS520 speakers to my setup about a year ago, and their sound quality are pretty good for the price point not to mention super easy to use and nice looking on my desk.

The first one I received had a small defect where the bars/backslash key would trigger the ENTER key. It was really annoying because I'd just barely touch it and it would input a backslash and then enter immediately after. Contacted their customer support and was told a replacement was on the way and I could discard or keep the defective one so I didn't have to hassle with returning. The keyboard itself feels great. The keys are quiet except for a couple which have a springy/light click sound to them (backspace, space, and enter) but that is okay for me. The lights are very bright and look fantastic. The software, however, is not exactly the greatest and is kinda hard to navigate since some of the buttons are not in English so I just use the keyboard to change the colors and things. The G-keys I was unable to figure out the macros on but I found a work around on it. I use it for work so I just created shortcuts in which I set a 'shortcut key' for, unfortunately (not really unfortunate though), that means I sacrificed my first 6 F-keys but that's okay; I rarely use the F-keys anyways. I would recommend this keyboard to anyone who is on a budget or just want a keyboard to break up the boring of work.

I purchased this keyboard because I am long time fan of the consistent quality I receive from Redragon products and I was in need of a non-mechanical keyboard for my girlfriend as she doesn't enjoy the clicking of a mechanical keyboard, yet does enjoy the feeling of typing on one. This keyboard is a perfect choice for anyone that is looking to get that mechanical like feeling without all the noise. It is very quiet to type on and the keys provide a good amount of resistance as if you were typing on actual mechanical keyboard (might be a bit heavier resistance than my k580). Apart from the keyboard itself, I did have some issues adjusting my typing as they put the 'G' keys on the left side instead of top like some of my other boards. I kept making mistakes at first when typing, but that is something that is negligible once your hands are adjusted for the keyboard. Another thing that I do not count against this keyboard is that there are less options for color animations. The led's are bright and beautiful, but you only have about 7 options of setup compared to my other boards that had up to 18. This is understandable though, as unlike my mechanical boards, the leds on this board are not individualized to each key, but rather share 1/6 of the board at a time. If you use the customized lighting configuration (which is poorly explained how to use in the manual), you will see that after activating it using Fn+PgUp, you then use the Fn+(1-6 keys located on the top row only) to set each sixth of the board to a specific stationary color (And then locked in by pressing Fn+PgUp again). Because the leds are limited to sections rather than each key, there are clearly restrictions that limit amount of possible animation configurations. For me personally, I was not bothered as I only use the option that pans the rainbow across the board anyways. The last thing to talk about is the palm rest. It is hard plastic with a very nice texture and Redragon logo in the middle. It does add much needed comfort to this board as I found it sits higher up than most of my other boards. It is very to remove as well. The palm rest is magnetic (look at pictures). There is nothing special you need to do to attach or remove it. Just line up the rests magnets with the boards metal tabs and it hook right on and won't pop off on it's own. Removing it is as simple as just pulling it off. Overall, I think this keyboard is perfect for those who enjoy a mechanical feel, but either don't enjoy the sounds of a mechanical board (or have family that don't like hearing it). This board provides excellent performance and responsiveness that I always happy to see from Redragon.

Solid quality keyboard! Worth every penny and it wasn't even expensive! Actually loving the side macro keys, as opposed to the top placed that most are.... even if it took some adjustments at first. The wrist pad included with it is also of good quality and locks in tight to the keyboard, never wandering. Button presses feel very responsive and the membrane keeps it very quiet. I know a lot of people love the clicky clacky keyboards, for whatever reason, but for the person not trying to have their wife throwing stuff at them due to keyboard sounds, this is perfect!

update: 12/5/2025 I bought 3 mice and a back up keyboard today. (all Red Dragon) MY M901K got hit with green tea this morning and can no longer use mouse scroll. Super sad been best mouse ive used ever. Ive been on PC since 1998 so that says alot. I feel actually sad because ive kept it like brand new all these years. I use it every single day playing games for almost 10 YEARS - (from amazon page- Last purchased Feb 4, 2015 ). I had a razor naga prior to that that lasted one year and was twice the price. I tell everyone about red dragon, discord i play in is full of red dragon mice and keyboard users because of me talking how great that are. ## if there is somewhere i could send it to be repaired i would as this mouse has sentimental value to me at this point. ### This morning I bought 3 more M901K and two M908's for gifts. I also have Red Dragon Speakers, and several keyboards, I tried to find a trey table mat for my mouse and keyboard that was Red Dragon but i need 14 H x 19 W inches. Love this company. update March 2022 - HAVING SAME ISUES AFTER FEW MONTHS. march/2022 was super good customer service of red dragon to send me a second keyboard. As i am a huge fan of their company and put their links on all my social media and my twitch page. But this keyboard just is a lemon it feels like. Did some google searching and many issues with it. Same issues as below after few months of use. I've kept it very clean and dry, still looks like new as i use it next to my racing wheel. I love red dragon products and hate to give a bad review so makes me sad to report my finding with this board as it keeps losing power and working intermediately. I connect another keyboard that came with my pc (also lighted on ijust like look of the red dragon one better) the old one works fine. Wish i could report a different outcout just going to have to look for a different keyboard. Good luck. WOW amazing customer service. I own a pretty substantial gaming social media site (which they have no knowledge of) and always have recommended this company and even at one point asked them if I could be a distributor because i love the products so much. I even have there logo as part of my desktop screen on my pc. Also put there logo on my simulator race cars. Everything ive bought has lasted for years under rigorous use daily. I have 2 keyboards , a mouse and speakers. but this keyboard it broken. the backspace key does this - ( \ ) which is seriously annoying. Its less then 3 months old.

Keyboard is "smaller". It is a "Full Size keyboard" meaning: It has a the complete set of keys & full num pad, and it's footprint is the same as a standard "full sized" keyboard... but because of the additional function keys, everything is scaled down to fit on the same platform. This causes difficulty to type smoothly without looking, being that the keys are not in the same place on a standardized full sized keyboard. The keys are smaller, but the throws are not. Instead of making larger spaces around the keys to allow the backlighting through, they added additional height to keys to raise them above the shell of the platform.This, added to the membrane gives it a very stiff, inconsistent, often weird, and unknown feel to some of the keypresses. It's not "quiet", but it's certainly not Circa '95 IBM PS2 keyboard. If your partner is bothered by clacking, this may be just on the fring of that danger line. I think most of the issues I have is because of my hand size. Not a brag, but, I'd like to think that I have average, somewhat standard adult sized hands? ::shrug:: May be great for someone who has smaller hands, or for a teen, or child, tho. That being said, all the other features work well plug & play. Multimedia functions work flawlessly, Recording and assigning the macro/function keys are easy & reliable, and has made A/V editing much smoother & productive. The lighting looks smooth, and vibrant. The 6 ish onboard modes are pretty much locked into place with limited range of customization & gimics, BUT there are a few settings that are not obnoxious or obtrusive to use when it's not a party and you need to get work done. Build quality seems pretty solid, has a decent weight and doesn't slide around on slick wood desktop. Cable is nicely braided and comes with built in cable wrap. I dunno... If I knew about the keyboard feel, I probably wouldn't buy it, but even with it's flaws, it's been tremendously helpful. My search for the right KB has relaxed a bit, but not ended. When I find something else, I'll probably give this one to one of my kids.

Me encanto, los colores brillan bastante y se regulan tanto la intensidad como la rapidez de los efectos, aparte tiene bastantes modos, las teclas se sienten bien y al ser membrana hacen ruido normal, el tamaño queda chido esta grande y el descansa manos queda bastante cómodo. Lo bueno: Colores regulables y varios modos, grandecito y materiales de calidad, cómodo de usar, cable amallado, los macro programables ayudan bastante si lo usas para programar, tiene la tecla [Ñ] pero recomiendo preguntar antes al vendedor ya que me digeron que tenian de los dos, las teclas se sienten super bien. lo malo: A unas semanas de uso empiezo a notar un pequeño rechinido en la tecla espaciadora y el enter, la aplicación para "regular" los colores (que no es necesaria porque desde el teclado lo puedes hacer sin problemas) esta super mega básica, el modo "respiración" no me gusto mucho y la función para programar los colores estaría mucho mejor si te diera la opción de darles efectos de movimiento pero se quedan estáticos (solo en la función programable) y de las teclas multimedia siento que están bien pero que quedarían mejor ubicadas de otra forma (volumen a la derecha y para controlar a la izquierda) En conclusión esta muy bien, si se siente como un teclado de media-alta gama tarándole a alta pero por el precio esperaba un poquitititito mas.

It is a good keyboard. But don't press the keys hard the W key was a little sloppy after 3 months but was working fine. Great keyboard. The RGB was also very good.the switches were also good and silent. Very easy to use and evn is also customisable. The material was also good, the keys were not imprinted but we're made by 2 different type of colour. Great value for money.

J'ai acheté ce clavier pour mon fils ( il a deja une souris de cette marque ), j'ai pu le tester un peu, semble de bonne qualité pour un prix contenu, je mets 5 étoiles pour le moment mais on verra bien à l'usage. Le soft a l'air un poil basique et pas terrible en revanche mais je n'ai pas regardé pus que ça. Clavier QWERTY et non AZERTY, faire attention, pas gênant pour mon fils selon lui.

My friend used his for 10years and could not switch to another one,i havent used it,just bought it for him as hes very specific and picky when it comes to this stuff 😂 Guessing by his experience it's very good

Een geweldige toetsen bord. Heeft mijn verwachtingen ver overtroffen. Het geluid van het typen is niet storend. Het voelt heel comfortabel aan Ik heb in andere reviews gelezen dat de verlichting niet helder genoeg was. Het enige wat ik daarop kan zeggen is onzin. Het is logies dat overdag je niet veel ziet, zeker als je bureau bij een raam staat. (zoals de mijne) Maar in de avond is het helder en mooi. Ook heb ik gelezen dat doordat de verlichting onvoldoende was diegene de letters niet kon zien. Ook dat is onzin. Hoewel het in de avond mooi is doordat de verlichting er doorheen schijnt. Zijn de letters duidelijk te zien. (misschien dat het bij het zwarte model wat onduidelijker is) Ik heb de witte en het is duidelijk. Wat het programmeren van de knoppen betreft kan ik nog niks over zeggen. Heb het tot nu toe nog niet gebruikt. Kort om de volle vijfsterren waard. En raad het ook zeker aan.
