Great Stones. Versatile!
I ordered these after looking around for several different whisky stones. I can say a few things about them:1) They work great. They are not intended on cooling a drink more so than keeping it cool. I cool my scotch on rocks in a shaker before drinking and these are great for keeping it cool. Granted, I only do this the first time because after the first glass I start to not care what I'm drinking.2) They are kind of small. These aren't your average ice cube size soapstone cubes. So, if you order a set of 9 expect that to do about 2 drinks if you are going my method of chilling before drinking.3) Just to test it out I tried leaving the drink for about 10 minutes to see if it stayed chilled. Fact is, I realized that I had deliciously cold scotch and it was a little too cold. I drank it up.4) I decided that these stones would be better suited for bourbon because scotch is absolutely amazing without being chilled.5) These do not work well after 4-5 scotches and you forget and throw them in the sink with the garbage disposal running.6) They were packaged nicely and came with a lovely little bag that I now store other vices in (hehehe).7) If you want some chilling stones I recommend these. They are great for placing on bruises after being hit because you mouthed off to a mother of 3 and her whiny brats and the unsuspecting father comes at you with a hay-maker.

Best Stones Your Money Can Buy
As someone that enjoys a good Irish whiskey neat I've never been a big fan of watered down whiskey. These whiskey stones, and a variety of other products out there, attempt to cool down a drink without diluting it with water and they work reasonably well for most whiskey drinkers' needs. With that said, these will not come anywhere close to cooling your drink as much as ice cubes would and are not really made for cooling more than a couple ounces at a time.I've been using whiskey stones for years and these are very well made and come in a nice little bag to freeze and store the stones in. When you're ready to use them you just take them out of the freezer and put two or three in a glass and pour a couple ounces of whiskey over it and you're set. I don't like my whiskey frozen so these do a nice job bringing the temperatures down just a notch.Whether or not you will like these will greatly depend on how much of a temperature drop you really want in your drink. Expect about a 7 degree drop using frozen whiskey stones in a 72 degree environment with two ounces of whiskey. For comparison, you'd get about a 21 degree drop from using normal ice cubes or a couple of the competing products out there made of steel. For bringing a couple of ounces of whiskey down just a few degrees these work great. For larger drinks or if you like your whiskey really cold then these are probably not going to work for you.

Exactly What I expected!
I have been wanting a set of whiskey stones for when I want a glass of nice whiskey, bourbon, or scotch. I generally add 1 ice cube, but while that will chill your glass, it will not keep it chilled once it is melted, and adding more ice just dilutes the drink, where 1 small cube or a small bit of water will open it up. These stones do their job perfectly of keeping the drink cold while you enjoy it over an extended period of time. No, they will not ice a drink for you, or bring a room temperature drink to near freezing, but that is also not the point of "spirit stones."They were a bit dusty once opening the package, but a quick rinse in the sink with some dish soap to the stones and the cloth bag and they were ready for use. They fit perfectly into the cloth bag that they come with for easy storage in the freezer. Whiskey stones are a great addition to any glass set, and these do their job perfectly!

Easy & Cool (not Cold)
Ordered these a few weeks ago and have used them several times. As others have noted, they don't keep your drink as cold as ice does. That should be no surprise. They are, however, a very good substitute. They keep your drink cool (if not "cold"), and look cool in the process. I've found that, unless you plan to pound your drink pretty quickly, it takes at least 6 stones to keep a normal high ball or old fashioned glass cool the whole time you drink it. Of course, you'll then have to re-freeze the stones before using them again.Pros:- Keep your drink cool- Look cool- Great if you're not having more than 1-2 drinksCons:- Don't keep your drink cold for more than a few minutes- Takes too long to re-freeze if you plan to have more than 2 drinks

Great Gift!
I bought this as a gift for my partner who is an avid whiskey drinker for Christmas and they have been very well used. He typically pops two or three into his whiskey glass and enjoys whiskey from his collection. I also bought silicone ice trays to make larger cubed ice which melt slower than regular ice and he prefers the stones. He let me know that the stones do not make the whiskey cold, just chilled like he likes. The set came in a small box that was easy to wrap and with a small bag burlap drawstring bag that he uses to keep the stones in the freezer when not in use.He is a picky gift receiver, but we were both pleased with this item.

They do the job
These stones are quality products in terms of shape and design. They come well packaged and are ready to drink after a quick rinse and some time in the freezer. My only gripe with them is that they don't seem to cool the drink as much as I expected. So, a forewarning, you will sacrifice temperature for less dilution. However, this is not a problem for me. I use them exclusively for my old fashioned cocktails, and I keep my rye bourbon in the freezer. This way when I make a drink it's already cold, I drop 4 stones into the rocks glass, and it stays cold longer than if I used nothing, and since I take my time with them they don't become watered down as with ice cubes. Great product.
