I use this to fortify my bone broth. Works great for the in soups!!!! This item will increase the sodium in your broth. Hold off salting the broth until after you add this product.

This chicken base has a great, rich flavor and is much better than standard bouillon cubes. It's perfect for soups and gravies. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a bit high in sodium, so you have to be careful with how much extra salt you add to your dish

My first experience with Minor's collection of bases was during my freshman year as a culinary arts student at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI. Studying to be a chef, amongst other kitchen skills, the fundamentals of stock and sauce making were paramount. Although we knew how to make stock from scratch, and we often did, Minor's Base was available for those moments when we ran out of fresh stock or perhaps did not have any fresh stock available last minute. In addition to the meat and seafood bases, Minor's at that time carried various flavors in concentrated vegetables, of which the sun-dried tomato, roasted red bell pepper and chipotle pepper varieties were all superb! We would often use the vegetable bases more than the meat bases but all varieties were very useful when needed. Then and now, and even after working in professional high-end kitchens, as well as my own kitchen, I can say with certainty that I recommend this product. The culinary snob in me will testify and will stress that homemade stock from scratch is best, be it for soup, stews or sauces. However, if you neither have the time, the patience or the ingredients to make your own stock from scratch, Minor's is a respectable substitute that will go far. Currently, when making sauces and dishes for my private chef business, I prefer to make my own stock from scratch. However, for home use or when the stock I made for an event runs short, I will add Minor's base for body. If you decide to purchase these bases, a couple recommendations when using them: 1. The base is a very thick paste concentrate so consider diluting it with hot water first, instead of adding it directly to dishes. This will ensure you have control of the saltiness of your dishes. 2. Because real chicken meat is used, the base has a light greasy fat, oil content. This is a good thing, as this will add body, texture, and richness to your dish. 3. If you are cooking via a measured recipe, plan and read ahead so you are prepared to adjust the addition of salt that a recipe may call for. In some cases, this base may be enough on its own for taste, and you may not need to add any additional salt to your dish at all. 4. If you are pressed for time, you can also use this base as a rub for large cuts of meat and also as a marinade. I recommend that you simply add additional items such as fresh garlic, dried herbs, fresh lemon juice, (or zest) and fresh cracked black-pepper. Note about the three attached photos: photos have not been edited or enhanced, and were taken in the evening, under kitchen lights. With that said, all colors are true to the actual product. (I took the photos next to a Roma tomato, a Jalapeño and a lemon in order to show contrast) First photo shows Minor's chicken base in its original container, second is the chicken base diluted with boiling hot water to make stock, third shows chicken base next to Minor's pork base. Again, the product is highly recommend, be you a home cook or professional chef.

This is the best chicken base ever. You won’t be disappointed. You can mix it with hot water, add a little salt and drink it. Wonderful.

Only soup base made with real meat, not flavored salt and sugar. No herbs or other flavors added so actually tastes like chicken without an odd herbal taste. Took a long time to arrive and expensive shipping cost.
