Magic!
This product is nothing short of a miracle! My partner often unintentionally damages our lawn—whether it’s from letting the mower stall and causing blade burns, or mistakenly over-fertilizing and not watering properly. But every time, this product swoops in and saves the day. In addition, it quickly addresses those unsightly dog urine burn spots left by inconsiderate neighbors. We live in an area that is HOT and with clay soil so this stuff really gets the soil healthy to repair damage. New grass takes root quickly, and before you realize it, the lawn is restored to its former glory. The secret formula feels like pure magic! Although it’s a bit on the expensive side, it has consistently proven to be a lifesaver for our turf. So, when my partner’s lawn care gets a bit reckless, I take charge of the repairs, and with Andersons, we rest easy knowing we’ll have a lush lawn again before long.

Best stuff for my soil
I've used this for some time now and witnessed poor soil turn good. Good soil means healthy growing. It also means less chemicals contaminating my plants and soil hardening. Less water, fertilizer, labor and weeds to worry about (I sure do hate weeds). Wish I knew about this sooner.

Great for soil deficient lawns with pH issues!
I have applied this to my lawn (northern climate lawn) each spring for multiple years while also following a Scott’s seeding and fertilizer program. In combination with a high quality seed, I’ve noticed this always boosts our lawn health for very green grass. Our home was a new build in 2020 and the soil was nutrient deficient (I tested it). Lots of clay from the excavated earth that was dumped around the property when they dug the foundation. Applying this product has helped progressively improve our soil pH over the past 4 years!

Great Product - Misleading Info?
I use this every uear during the spring and summer on my TifTuf Bermuda and Zeon Zoysia lawn and love it. It really feeds the soil and you see the results in turf. You can use practically as much as you want with no harm. Price is a little high but I buy the 40lb back for multiple applications. What I do find misleading about this product is it states it is a 50/50 mix of biochar and humic acid yet right there on the back, it states 32.00% humic acid and 42.96% biochar. Not sure how this is 50/50, but doesn't take away from my 5 star rating.

Great for new lawns
This is a great product to add carbon and humic acid to the soil, but it is pricey, and for that I am taking away 1 star. If you have red clay soil, especially with a new lawn, humic acid can really bring it to life with less nitrogen while really improving water retention. I have since found a more cost-effective way to apply humic acid, but if you're new to lawncare or have a small yard, this will be a 5+ star product.

Southern Sandy Soil Cure
If you live in the South and deal with sandy soil, I want to share something that truly changed my lawn: biochar. It’s not just hype—it works. When we bought our home, our soil was bleeding out nutrients and water faster than I could put them in. I ran soil tests and realized I was throwing money away on fertilizers that couldn’t stick. That’s when I started digging into real solutions—and that’s how I found biochar. Now, I apply it twice a year with the goal of reaching 200 pounds over the next few seasons on our front lawn. It’s an investment—$600 to $800 total—but here’s the thing: biochar lasts 100 years or more in the soil. It locks in nutrients, holds water, and transforms how your soil works. By the time my plan is complete, we’ll likely cut our irrigation needs by 40% and reduce fertilizer use by half—so it ends up paying for itself if you’re willing to be patient and consistent. Here’s what I’ve learned: • Charge the biochar with organic fertilizers—they feed the microbes and bring the biochar to life. • Add micronutrients and macronutrients when applying—it’s like seasoning the soil properly. • Stick with it. Every application improves CEC (cation exchange capacity) and builds the kind of soil plants thrive in. If you’re not sure how much to use, you can use tools like GPT (yes, the AI!) to calculate the right amount based on your lawn’s square footage and your soil goals. If your soil is sandy and struggling, this is one of the most powerful long-term changes you can make. Take your time. Stay consistent. You’ll be amazed at what your lawn can become with healthy soil. **04/15/2025 Update: Added photo of soil profile from a sod plug I pulled from my lawn. Look at the top profile with only 100 pounds added past 18 months! Good bye sand! **8/13/2025 Update: Centipede Grass and full lawn healed now that sandy soil is gone after 20 Months do yourself a favor and invest in biochar/humichar

Step 1 for a lush lawn
This is long, BUT READ THIS before wasting your money on other products. I've been attempting to fix my turf since 2021, when I moved into my new home. I initially hired a lawn service, but the success was short-lived. Last fall, I took matters into my own hands by dethatching, scarifying, and overseeding. After minimal success with germination (I took all the steps to protect the seeds and keep them moist), my lawn came up thin and light green in the spring. Despite heavy rains, my soil was still hard as a rock. My soil pH was high, so I bought Mag-I-Cal to lower the pH. I also bought Love Your Soil to loosen the hard clay. Those also had short-lived success. I knew my soil was the problem. The pH came down slightly, but the soil remained compact. I realized that years of fertilizer and over-irrigation by the previous owners had probably built a carbon deficiency and sodium chloride concentration. I read up on this product. It's everything you need to condition your soil on a more permanent basis. The charred component makes space for healthy microbes and the humic component feeds the microbes. I used fungicide to treat lawn disease this season, but as this product layers into the soil and improves water retention at greater depths with healthier root structures, I've had fewer indications of disease. I also have fewer urine burn spots from my dogs. The soil pH has neutralized as the soil retains more rain water (which is slightly acidic in my area). I treat my lawn with this every 2-3 weeks at a light/moderate rate with plans to continue to do so as it moves deeper into the soil. Start with your soil. Treat it heavily for 1 season before scaling back to maintenance applications. Cut your grass high and help the roots grow deep. Healthy turd is resilient and needs less care. I'll swear by this product and won't switch to Humic DG or PGF Complete for humic content until my soil is fully amended. This product is worth the money.

This stuff really works great
This is the second application (of Andersons Humic Acid ) that I’ve used on my lawn. What a difference this product made. I had some major bald spots in my grass and lawn look terrible. Two months after the first application all the bald spots were gone and my grass looked really good. I applied the second application three months after the initial application and my lawn looks even better. It’s a bit expensive and it does take some time to work, but it’s worth every penny
