This little guy is adorable! I grew up in a family full of Norwegian customs. Nisse were part of the Christmas decor at my grandparents' homes every year. I was shopping for other Christmas items when this popped up as a suggestion. I couldn't resist ordering him and am so glad I did. He is well constructed and the perfect size to sit in my office over the holiday season. The base is perfectly weighted so that he won't tip over easily. There is a wire through the length of his hat to assist with shaping. This is really a cute, quality piece. I hope the company continues to produce more Nisse, including larger sizes. I'd love a 3-4 foot one in my entryway at home. I might have to add another color to my budding collection. Can't have this guy getting lonely when the office is closed.

Cute Gnome, grey color is darker than pictured and slightly boring as I wish the hat or body material had some kind of pattern but other than that very cute. It has a nice weight to it. Upon receive the package I was surprised it was as heavy as it was which helps keep the Gnome upright. The box it came in is wrapped with cellophane and is very giftable. Inside box was a marketing flyer with more details on the brand. May just need to buy another color from the collection.

This was too cute so it became the first addition to my Christmas decoratios in a few years. Apparantly, I was in a vulnerable state after we were recently subjected to night time burgulars, and fell for this little guy after reading one sentence in the description.... "the Tomte is reputed to safeguard the farms, family and children, particularly at night, protecting them from misfortune". After a quick online search I saw that indeed in Scandinavian folklore the gnome brings good luck.It is small, the body is about the height of a soda can and the hat makes up the remainder of the 16" they state. It's soft, simple and as others have said, so adorable. He will look great hanging out around the house and will probably hang out in the house long after Christmas. Too expensive for what it is. In my opinion the price should be $10-12 but hey, someone else put in the work to make this little guy for me and the price is up today so I purchased it at a good time I guess.

My husband and I wanted to start a new Christmas decor tradition, and after looking around at different snowmen and Santas, we found these adorable Scandinavian trolls. When we received Tomte, we knew we had found our new Christmas decor! This little guy is simply adorable and we love to change his hat "style" using the bendable wire inside the hat. Every time one of us does so, it just makes us laugh and snicker at its cuteness! It is handmade and has sand in the bottom, so it stands on its own, which is nice. We really enjoy this first addition to our collection, and look forward to getting him a new buddy come Christmas this year! I high recommend Tomte, if you want a little something to make you smile and laugh during the winter holidays!

When it arrived the box was very small and I wondered how they packed a 18" Gnome in it. The hat was folded over but was easily bent back up. This was purchased as a Christmas decoration but is so adorable I'm keeping it out year round. My 9 year old grandson took some plants from around the room and made a little hiding place for it on sofa table. Everyone who comes over comments about how cute it is. This Gnome is very high quality! Clearly a lot of thought and craftsmanship went into this little Gnome. I'm seriously thinking about getting another.

I really hate elf on a shelf- it looks weird and seems scarey for a child. However, my friends daughter wanted a holiday elf and after finding lore online about Tomte/ Swedish gnomes I was surprised to find them on Amazon. My order arrived quickly in a box with info on the gnome and a small booklet on his other cohorts that are available for purchase. He has some weight in the rear to keep him stationary and the felt he's made of is lux. My friends daughter loves the gnome and really enjoyed looking up stories about Tomte.

**Updated because I have another color!**These gnomes, whom I have named Ed (gray) and Norman (red), are truly a delight.They're soft textured, and soft-bodied but nicely firm when squeezed.They are weighted on the bottom so he can stand unsupported.Their beards are soft and fluffy. I can't tell what it is, but it's nice.There is a wire in their hats, let's you position it however you like. Ed's goes off to his left, kinda crooked on purpose. Very Gandalf. Norman wears his a bit straighter, but for the top of the shelf they live on.One thing I must point out to any prospective buyers is that the different colored gnomes are not the exact same. It is NOT like buying t-shirts, pick your color. They are definitely handmade with care, and there are differences between the colors as there are between brothers. You will see in the attached photo. It is well worth having all four in my opinion. I plan to get the remaining two in time.My overall impression is one of high quality in both materials and craftsmanship. I'm very glad to have them, and can't walk by without smiling. I plan on getting them some friends soon. I cannot recommend strongly enough that you welcome your own Tomte into your home, they've been a very nisse (apologies for the pun) addition to my living room. Not even just for Christmas; They're there for keeps, year-round.In short, I'm very happy with this purchase and I guarantee you will be as well.

Loved Sockervits Sven! We bought him to use at work during the holiday season for an"Elf on the shelf" replacement. We wanted something differnt than an elf. Whats better than an elf? Why a gnome of coarse. He was our roaming gnome. He is such great quality. Nice good size. Loved that he is weighted and can stand on his own. The tip of the hat has wire so you can move it and give him extra character. His beard is nice and soft and gives it that real look and feel. So beautifully crafted. Even with the holidays over, he sits where everyone can see him. We love him too much to but away!

What a lovely well made gnome! It will be a lovely Christmas decoration.
