Easy to install and use - the app provides the cost per charge
When I first purchased my EV I didn't plan to install a charger and figured the included 110V 15Amp charging would work for me. I don't drive that often and when I do it is not more than 100 miles and most often under 30. I plugged my charger into my garage refrigerator outlet which was a dedicated 20Amp circuit which only had the refrigerator on it. I was happy to see it worked fine without blowing the fuse. The down side of the 110 charger its slow. Good for about 3 - 4 mile of charge per hour. It was taking nearly 3 days to charge the car to 80%. After a few weeks I decided I needed something a bit faster and went with the Emporia. I did quite a bit of research before choosing the Emporia Smart Home Charger. Features, warranty and price were all considered. I installed a 50Amp breaker and NEMA 14-50 receptacle which supports 40 Amp charging. This way I can take the charger with me should I move. You really don't need to go with the hard wired 60Amp / 48 Amp charging circuit, because the 40 Amp can charge just about any vehicle from 10% to 80% in about 6 to 8 hours depending on battery size. If you don't have enough service, I have 200 Amp, then go with a 30 Amp breaker, which will still charge the vehicle overnight at about 5.8kW per hour. The Emporia App is easy to set up. I was able to connect to my Wi-Fi which is about 40 feet from my router in my laundry room. After connecting, it installed an update to the unit and I was ready to go. The App has many features, but I use the schedule charge and power calculation the most. I set it up to charge at 8PM, which is off peak. I can plug in the car anytime and it will wait till 8PM. The other feature is the charge history. This tells me how long it took to charge and how much power was consumed. There is a place to add your utility info, both manually at cost per kWh or in my case I selected my power company from a list and it automatically filled in the data, which I verified looking at my last statement. It cost me about $8 to charge from 10% to 80%. BTW, you should not charge to 100% on a regular basis as this can damage the life of the batteries. Charging to 100% is only recommended when planning a long trip. Likewise you should not drop bellow 10% before charging. This will vary by make and model. I am driving a BMW I5-M60, which has a 84kWh battery pack. It is advertised at 260 miles, which is not exactly accurate when you consider the usable range is 70%. My only minor issue with the App is my car is not listed in the device menu. I'm guessing they will add it at some point. This has no bearing on the use and operation of the unit. The unit took me less than 1 hour to install and set up once I completed adding the 50Amp breaker and outlet, which took 4 hours. I have a background in electrical engineering and plenty of experience working on electrical circuits. In my opinion, if you do not have the electrical experience, hire an electrician to add the circuit and outlet. You can then install the Emporia yourself and save a few bucks. It is literally "plug & play". Lastly, I found the unit to be of great quality, fit and finish. The 24 foot charging cable is heavy duty, yet easy to maneuver and hang up. I have had it for 6 weeks now and everything is great! Happy charging, chuckp

Efficient, Easy-to-Install, and Great Value for Home EV Charging!
I recently installed the Emporia Level 2 EV Charger at home, and it's been a fantastic upgrade from my Level 1 charger. This model provides incredible value, with powerful features at a competitive price. For anyone with good electrical knowledge, the installation is straightforward—I installed it outside near my electrical panel, and the provided 4-foot wires and flexible watertight conduit were more than sufficient. The only additional purchase I needed was a 60-amp breaker from Home Depot (~$18). Once installed, setup and control through the Emporia app was easy. With this Level 2 charger, what used to take 18 hours with my old Level 1 charger now takes just 2 hours! This faster charge time has given me much better control over my charging schedule. Since I’m on a Time-of-Use plan, I don’t have to keep the car plugged in all the time—just a quick top-up during off-peak hours. After using it for a month with my PHEV, I’ve gained valuable insights into my electricity usage and charging costs. Overall, the Emporia Level 2 charger is durable, attractive, and extremely functional. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable, affordable home EV charging solution.

Got my own gas station!
Welcome to another world. Seriously. This fuels a driving addiction in a way that's so out of this one. You'll see. If you are looking for a good charger this works great. Just be sure to use your phone, check WiFi strength for your intended instal location. Usually this will be in a garage, where WiFi strength may be weak in spots. Between garage doors is a convenient placement, and, is out enough to catch WiFi in my location. Just an idea for you. The app is pretty sweet also. Output current can be throttled. Peace if mind when time allows, or, overnight charging. It also connects to location and knows local utility rates, off peak hours can be used with a timing schedule. Also tracks electrical cost of total, and individual charge times. Charging state can be monitored from phone. And more. I cannot compare to other brands, this is my first experience. As a novice, hey, it's a 11 kw charger. It crams electrons back into my car so it goes wooooosh! Enjoy. Update. 10-25-25 Flawless operation. Even when disconnected from power for thunderstorms, this unit reconnects. So far , this is a good unit. Pleased. The app is awesome.

Excellent charger and excellent Iphone app
Easy to install, works great. Iphone app is excellent, I can set when to charge my EV, and I always can check the progress of my charge. I installed it myself, very easy to do if you have some electrical knowledge.

After reading and watching multiple reviews online I decided to buy the Emporia. I’ve had it for 2 weeks now and it works fine no issues at all. First I like the look of it but most importantly it’s well built, good quality, installation options (NEMA14-50 or Hardwired), easy to install, up to 48A, good price and the app is super easy to use. I had it installed hardwired by my electrician to get the maximum amperage from my charger. The amperage can easily be adjusted using the app from 12A to 48A by 4A increments depending on your circuit breaker. Connecting my Charger to my wifi literally took seconds. Compared to other chargers this charger gives you more charging amps at an excellent price. Also, if you loose power during the night and power comes back this Emporia will restart automatically charging your car which is not the case with some other brands that need to be reprogrammed and restarted. So no surprise in the morning when you’re ready to go to work. I’m so happy with my purchase, delivery was fast. I highly recommend the EV Charger!!

Parfait, facile a mettre en place et longeur de cable suffisant. Rentre dans les prix pour les subventions.

It is good quality wise. But it is not designed to use in Canada. Must of the features made for USA only such as adjusting electricity rate and location… and so on. Unfortunately it is unable to schedule your EV charger. All of features like power smart, time of use management, peak demand management doesn’t work as result of no local information .

For the first five months I used the Ev charger, it does what it is supposed to and the apps tracked the consumption. That all stopped one morning at the end of march, an error message came on and the weaknesses in the Emporia's warranty and resolution starts to show. I reached out to support, they took a snapshot of my account and then determined that the unit needs to be replaced and proceed to send me a new unit. The ordeal took some back and forth, as they need to figure out who is covering the warranty and my shipping address. However, I posed one very important question about who will cover the Reinstallation cost. For context, I paid over $1k to have the unit initially hardwired, up and running, thinking this will last me few good years (maybe I am optimistic but never expected 5 months of operation from this product). I reached out to the same electrician and they quoted me $420+tax (which seems excessive to me) for reinstallation. But the main point is Emporia should take care of the reinstallion. I don't mind using Emporia's certified electrician as long as they can do the job done and I don't need to pay again. Five weeks have passed since my unit is broke, I just got the new unit yesterday, but still no words on who will cover the reinstallation cost and when? Good thing we only have one EV and have revert to my level 1 charger. I understand that there is red tape but it's been 5 weeks already and still no operating Emporia charger. I also understand sometimes you get unlucky and get a subpar unit, but it only worked for 5 months, so it is reasonable for Emporia to take responsibility of the reinstallation. We purchase the EV charger with a longer term in mind and with some assurance that it will function. As I was saying, so far the warranty is NOT worry-free, and I still don't know what is the outcome. I will provide another update this is all said and done.

This was super easy to install. I got the plug in model. Setup was easy as well. Simply connect to wifi and using the app set the breaker value of 50A and that's it. The cable stays flexible in the cold winter also. No complaints.
