After Trial and Error, First Time Parents Found Their Go-To Brand
As first time parents, we received several different types of diapers from my husband's diaper party (man version of baby shower) and my baby shower. We have gotten Pampers (of course especially since hospitals send you home with them as well), Huggies, and some off brand types, but the ones we became most accustomed with are Pampers and Huggies. My baby did well with Pampers and here's what we loved about them: The blue strip indicator that appeared when our baby soiled the diaper (the CON to this is that you start to change the diaper more often then you really should. Sometimes you end up changing the baby sooner than he's ready because the blue strip just conditions you to change the diaper. "Blue strip? Oh! Time to change the baby!" When you do this he/she may not have been ready yet because he/she had to still poop. Because of the blue strip prompting a change, we've faced some more accidents than we would have liked. Anyway, we also liked the softness and flexibility of the material. What made us want to switch? The blue strip, though convenient, means more chemicals on the baby and we are a family that chooses to be environmentally conscious and also want to keep as much chemicals or unnatural components away from our baby as much as possible. We're not anal hippies, we're just informed. The next brand, Huggies. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WE LIKED ABOUT THEM. I knew from the start I wasn't going to like Huggies! Here's why: After three uses my baby had a reaction. The material feels like recycled cardboard mushed up with old newspaper which needless to say it's not soft at all! Moreoever, the front and back practically look THE SAME. I mean we're not stupid to not be able to tell the difference, but the front and back of the human anatomy are different people, so there should be some tailored fit don't ya think?! Huggies are not absorbant at all so the baby fusses almost right away for a change because it's so uncomfortable. Oh okay, wait, there IS ONE THING we like about the Huggies. It has a rim that goes up and around the baby's bottom to prevent any poop spilled up the back, but that's about all the benefit there is. Those up-the-back accidents only happen when the baby's bottom is held shut for when you're holding them wrong while theyre pooping anyway so those rims aren't super necessary.SO WHY DID WE SWITCH TO BAMBO NATURE AND WHY DO WE LOVE THEM?!!They're super soft and come with super cute and simple generic designs. No brand pushing agenda (peace out sesame street and disney). You can feel and see the quality of the material and we have had less diaper rash episodes with this diaper. The diapers are super stretchy and flexible so when you're wrapping it up with added dirty wipes and big messes to toss, the clasps will hold it as you wrap it all up into a ball. There aren't any indicators like a blue strip on whether there's a mess or not, but experienced parents will know when somethings going on down there or not without any visual indicators. So again, not super necessary. With the acception of Huggies that is; their material is so dang rough that you can't tell what the heck is going on inside there. Bambo Nature is easy to tell when there's a mess, but they're also extremely absorbant. It's kind of amazing. When our baby started to sleep through the night, we wouldn't know if the diaper was soiled until our baby woke up in the morning. We're still surprised how everything that happened through the night all held in the diaper without irritating our baby. So, should you give these diapers a try? Yes. Yes, indeed. Should you throw Huggies in the fire and never think twice about it? Yes. Yes, indeed.

Diapers leak every time
We have tried these diapers in size 1 and 2 and at various times over multiple weeks since we were given them as gifts. They unfortunately leaked every single time. (Yes, every. single. time.) Three different people put the diapers on our baby so it's unlikely to be a user error and we haven't had the same issue with Huggies diapers. Very disappointed in these diapers, especially since we can't return them. Definitely don't put these on your registry.

Only diapers I buy now.
I have tried a few brands on my three month old, and now these are the only ones I use now that he is in size two. Size one, for some reason, would leak through but the two's last all night. They're soft, and I love the prints on them.

Don’t do this to your poor baby’s butt
My poor little guy got the worst diaper rash I’ve ever seen with these diapers. They suffer from the dual uselessness of not absorbing liquid baby poop and also sticking horribly to their skin as soon as they get wet. So every time we removed one (even with diaper cream on, and even moments after he had gone) we had to peel it away and then scrub off dried poop, leaving raw, painful patches all over his tiny butt. They are so expensive that we tried to use every one, changing them immediately after he pooped. His bum is still recovering.
