Very Interesting Info
I had read a historical fiction story based on families who had lived on the Farallon Islands, and I was intrigued by the story. A family member, who lives in the Bay Area, loves the history of the area, but is unfamiliar with the islands, and I wanted to share this fascinating information with him. That being said, I ordered this book, and was surprised at what I received. There are so many photos, almost to the point of too many jammed into a small space, and I'm missing the trees for the forest (in that order), especially since it's in black and white and all the rocks began to look alike. I am grateful that someone put all of this history together and took the time to gather the pictures and organize them, but honestly, if I actually saw this book before I ordered it on line I probably wouldn't have purchased it because of the layout. That being said, we have a wonderful collection of history that will not be repeated. As a National Wildlife Refuge, the area is closed to the public, so we are reliant on this information. I do hope that as more people become aware of the Farallons that there will be more interest in supporting the endeavors of those who protect it. Meantime, this book is going under a Christmas tree, and I hope it inspires the reader(s) to take an interest in what is in their aquatic neighborhood.
