As long as the ball remains in your pond, it is slow releasing bacteria as needed into the pond. When it is gone, it is time for a new one. The time will vary depending on the needs of the pond. Nate at Practical Garden Ponds 484-237-2080 **Q: Will this remove tannins in the water?** A: Hello Colleen, Thanks for asking! The Pure Pond Bomb is a unique combination of beneficial bacteria and enzymes that work fast to clean up organic waste and break down ammonia and nitrites. Beneficial Bacteria will help in the breakdown of material that contribute to tannin leaching, it will not directly remove tannins already existing in the water column. Activated carbon will help in reduction of tannins. I hope this is helpful!
