Does this fit an A5 notebook instead of smaller ones?

Yes, this leather cover fit A5 notebooks.

What size refills does the standard take. will genuine travellers notebook brand refills fit? it would be helpful to have actual measurements.

The cover I have is to fit A5 note books. It is perfect size for that. I bought a pack of blank books it will hold 3/4 of them at a time.

Will the A5 fit the hobonichi cousin A5?

Hello. Yes. The A5 version fits my Hobonichi Cousin A5 and there is plenty of room if you're someone who uses ephemera, vellum and stickers etc :-)

what would be the best size to fit a moleskine 18 month daily diary with a molieskine notebook (both soft cover)?

I bought the A5 version for my A5 notebooks. However I happen to have an old Moleskine daily diary which is the same size as your 18 month one I believe (31×21 cm) and it's quite thick. I didn't have a Moleskine notebook to hand so I've demonstrated by placing a hardback A5 notebook on top of the Moleskine daily. Hopefully you can see that both fit well into the A5 although there is quite a bit of overhang for the Moleskine. There is a generous amount of leather on this cover. Standard traveler's notebook covers don't have a spine. The standard version of this cover has a wide spine, so it may fit your Moleskine diary but with very little overhang. Sorry I can't be of more help. I hope someone who has the standard size responds to your question.
