You CAN send BT signals to a BT receiver if you use a mini 3.5mm jack plug BT transmitter/receiver into the headphone jack. There are many around, this is just one example. GOBEST Visible Bluetooth Transmitter and Receiver. On Amazon. Plug this unit in and a set of BT headphones approx 6-10 metres away will pick up the playback and the recording. For a bigger search enter "BT Rx/Tx" and you will see many. Hope this helps. Pity the sellers are not aware of this capability ! Tut tut !

What distance does it record from? Would it be ok across a busy class room?

You can have a try. For clear recordings of conversations the recorder should be within 10 ft. of the individuals being recorded or the source of the conversation. But If the classroom is too noisy, there may be a lot of noise in the recording

If i recorded myslef singing would you be able to hear the music in the background aswell ?

I'm not really impressed with the sound, you'd be better off downloading a voice recorder app on your phone. It is small and discreet and not much bigger than a cigarette lighter
