Outstanding Seller
I was disappointed to find that this slicer is not adjustable for thickness, and it doesn't have a blade protector. It comes with plates that allows for different thicknesses. I had a V cut mandolin before and it was adjustable, and it had a neat Y shaped cover that fit over the blade. It slices well enough, but on some items, I prefer a thinner slice than what this can deliver. I also don't like how the plates are inserted. Two of the plates on my unit are difficult to snap in place. I guess they weren't machined correctly. Rather than pay shipping to return the item, I put it in my to be donated box.Even though I was disappointed in the mandolin, the seller, Braviloni Kitchen Products, deserves a five star rating because one of the customer service representative read my review and took the time to contact me directly to acknowledge my dissatisfaction with the product and offer a resolution. I was extremely pleased and happy with the resolution. I really like how the company took the initiative to resolve this issue. A job well done!

does the job but lacks safety features
This does a good job and has a variety of blades to select. My criticism is the danger part. The carrying case of the blades is one spot short of storing all the blades safely away until the next use. Meaning you have a deadly sharp glad exposed on the top of the mandolin while it is being stored. Just a matter of time until you get cut when moving things in your cup board. Also...there is no cap or guard to put over the sharp blade...and the case that holds the other four bales has no l lid or top for safety also..so those can fall out. Also.. don't drink wine or be talking to people when using this.. it is so sharp.. you want to be mindful. i always leave a good two inches of my vegetable and never slice to the bottom. in retrospect. .i'd pay more for a more safe mandolin i do like how it can store and hold your sliced vegetables.

This is a very small and works just fine as a starter mandoline slicer
This is a very small and fine starter mandoline slicer. The running track on the top is a little bit annoying, as the grooves on the side that seem to be there to help you cut better/safer actually limit the size of vegetable you can easily run through it. I spend a lot of time cutting/resizing vegetable pieces to get them to work nicely with this mandoline, but even after that, it has vastly increased the speed of slicing and shredding. Note: this model doesn't do any kind of dicing - it can slice two different thickness levels and do some other shredding/grating. Fine for a starter and a great find for the price.

Great slicer
I bought this to make apple chips. I looked at a lot of reviews for this one and others like this made by other companies and felt this was the best choice for me. The main reason I bought this was for the container underneath. I didn't want to use a plate to catch everything and possible have the slicer shift as I'm using it. It holds about two medium apples. I've only used the two slicing blades and the 3.5mm thickness seems to be the best for apple chips. The handle took a minute to get used to, but after that I sliced through an apple in seconds. The blades are sharp and I tried to stop before I hit the seeds but it will slice them with no problems or hesitations. I would buy this again if I needed another one and would recommend this to anyone looking for a slicer.

User error - be careful!
Let me be crystal clear, this is not an indictment on the product or the makers of this product. It is, after all a slicer so that comes with certain risk. But I bought this thing and the very first time I used it I cut a slice of my pinky clean off! Again, not blaming the product or the company, my fault. Clearly I did something wrong. I was trying to make thin potato slices, first 5-10 glides went perfect. Then the potato got stuck and I had to force it a bit. No problem. Happened again, I forced it a bit, and somehow my pick was low enough and BAM! Chunk of skin clean off. Huge mess. Emergency room but I will live. So for the last time, not blaming the product but I guess if you slip there will be consequences. Best of luck!

This is a nice slicer -- the only thing is both my husband ...
This is a nice slicer -- the only thing is both my husband and I cut ourselves pretty good. You need to be very careful. We tried to use the plastic hand protector piece with it but it wasn't working well, which is when we decided to try doing it carefully ourselves -- but I guess we need to be even more careful. It is very very VERY easy to cut yourself. Be safe :)

A hopeful replacement for a wonderful old kitchen tool
Twenty-five years ago we received a Mini Wonder grater as a wedding gift. We found it to be a great design and have used it a lot, but unfortunately the "bed" broke in two awhile back and makes using it a problem now. The Braviloni grater is as close to the same design as the Mini Wonder as we have been able to find. We just opened it today and will begin putting it through the rigors. The design looks just as useful so we have high expectations of being pleased. This will be one of those "no news is good news" situations...if you do not hear back from us consider this item a huge success!

Great product!
First off, this is not a paid review. I purchased this item like anyone else. I was a little skeptical given the price and my past experiences with cheaper mandolins. But I figured I would give it a shot since it was so cheap and had so many good reviews. Wow, was I surprised the first time I used it. I decided to really test it out and used the thinnest cut and a tomato just to see how it would do. It sliced the tomato paper thin, with ease. Since then I have tried all the attachments and they all work great. Highly recommended this product if you're looking for a more affordable mandolin that works.

Arrived fast!
It is good, but I was looking for a little bit different performance of the item.
