5 Language Visual Dictionary: English, French, German, Spanish, Italian

This is an amazing book! I was looking for a book that covered a bunch of highly used European languages, and this is it!! There are so many more topics than I ever thought. I wasn’t anticipating learning the words for architecture or geology or sailing but it’s cool that I have them! I think this will take my vocabulary to the next level. This also arrived before expected. I highly recommend this book if you’re looking to increase your fluency before a trip to Europe or just in general!

My child is taking a language survey course in which she is studying 6 languages. This book is nice because she can see the word in English and then the language she is learning also. The imagery is very well done, as it has been in every DK book I have purchased over the years. Great coffee table book because it captivates most any age range and educational background. Even toddlers like to look at pictures!

Wonderful. Better than expectations. Very good way to learn the more detailed objects. Interesting to compare word across different languages. Only drawback is it is convenient to take when traveling. More study material.

I debated between this book and one that included far more words, but I settled on this one because I have had such good luck with DK books and their style of designing books. Glad I did. This is a vocabulary banquet. I fear I won’t use it as much as I might, but having 5 different words to compare is both good for learning and an immediate experience of the richness of languages.

I don’t even have the superlatives for this gorgeous, color photo, 5-language Visual Dictionary. It covers much more vocabulary than just your initial, day-to-day words. A valuable learning tool!!

This book is nice, but I wish it had some type of pronunciation guide or tool next to the words like many other language books have. It takes a lot of time to look up the pronunciation of each word. I also think the order should put English and German together (since both are Germanic languages), followed by the romance languages. Ideally, I'd order the words English, German, Spanish, Italian, French. Overall, it's a great resource and an interesting coffee table book!

I liked because of the everyday items names are listed in all 5 languages. I am trying to learn all 5 plus a couple more.

This is a great reference, although not useful every day. Excellent pictures. Interesting to compare languages.

Like the structure and the selection of languages that are in the book.

昨年7月に購入。 5 Language Visual Dictionary (英語) ペーパーバック – 2020/3/5 でないと、オーディオアプリに対応していないので登録できません。 本日2020年版があることを知りました。しかも約千円安い。 本当に落胆しました。 2025/04/03 評価修正 上記の理由により★１でしたが、 英語↔日本語、英語↔ロシア語の本より大きいサイズなので見易いです。 今は買い間違えたのも、それなりに良かったのかもしれないと思うようになりました。 適当なオススメには腹が立つので当時の感想はそのままですが。

Es un libro que en verdad te ayuda a aumentar el vocabulario de manera más sencilla para las personas que no vivimos en los países donde se habla en esa lengua, ademas se hace más fácil memorizar el vocabulario por medio de las imágenes. El libro se divide en temas y después el subtramas los cuales están diseñados para memorizar el contenido más rápido, estoy encantado con el contenido del libro y sobre todo me gusta como explica con exactitud el idioma del que se habla, esta súper bien ordenada.

This is a great and unique dictionary. It is divided in sections (for example: "home" or "food") and has an incredibly vast and precise array of photographs with the corresponding names and articles in five languages. I would say it would be most useful if you already have a working knowledge of at least a couple of those languages, as you can expand your vocabulary and brush up on things you've forgotten from school. The visual aspect is very helpful to the memorizing process. Yes; some of the photos look a bit dated (90s or so), but I don't really mind. All in all, really lovely book and great idea!
