Well we have some wily squirrels who have decided they can jump over to the suet we have underneath the squirrel baffle from the nearby branches. We used to have a big problem with rats but eliminated them by having our pest control company put out bait boxes, so the rats don’t bother the bird feeders anymore. Anywhere you have birdseed out also seems to attract unwanted pests as well as birds so If you notice a lot of rats I would recommend getting rodent bait boxes to control them.

Q: How many lbs can this support beneath it?

Probably 3-4 lbs. I found that when the squirrels jumped into the feeder the feeder gradually became unscrewed and fell to the ground. I solved this problem by super-glueing the hooks together permanently. It removed the option of changing the hooks for a different length but I was fine with it. It doesn't keep our very clever squirrels out but the bright colors look lovely and the birds like to sit under it when it's raining.

Q: How to stop chipmunks from birdfeeder

I am using mine as umbrellas for my hummingbird feeders, but it should keep the chipmunks off of the bird feeders. The baffle is wide and slippery.
