I would buy it again when it's on sale
I bought this when it was on sale for $20.I wish i had bought more of it. We have refrigerator full of ethnic food with alot of garlic and other spices in them, and it does stink up the box.I'm finding that about 80% of the stench(?) is gone - which is no small feat, considering the intensity of the smell that was present before. However, i'm only giving it 4 stars because of the price. For $20, i would give it 5 stars and would buy some more. For $36, i'm a little hesitant to pull the trigger. But that's just me.

Truly amazing!
OK, like others here, I was highly skeptical. But then I remembered how skeptical I was of the concept that you can remove onion and garlic smells from your hands by rubbing them on wet stainless steel, and how surprised I was when that worked! I figure this must work in a similar way. Anyway, I bought one of these little gizmos for my cats' litter box area (two cats, two litter boxes). Despite my best efforts (cleaning twice a day), there's usually some odor there. With the Smellkiller, the odor is completely GONE. Totally blew me away. All I've done is make sure I keep the sponge wet (I just pour a little water into the cup several times a week), and it does what it's supposed to do. I just ordered another one (different model) for my kitchen.

Keeps catbox smell away
I really did not expect this to work, but it really did. I placed it in the laundry room next to the catbox, and the odors are gone. The cats even go in there now!

Not totally sure it works
It seemed to work when I first got it, but I'm not really sure anymore. When I first got it, I changed the litter and put the Smellkiller right near it. Usually after I change the litter, I can still smell the litter, it just smells clean; this time, I couldn't smell anything. I keep the sponge moist and it still sits in the small area where the litter box is; for the most part, I don't notice any smells, but I'm not sure if that is due to the Smellkiller or because I use A&H Baking Soda Kitty Litter, a 2nd litter with crystals, AND the A&H litter box deodorizer powder.I suppose it works ok, but I wouldn't buy another one, and I don't think it works the miracles claimed in other reviews. Also, mine didn't stay on the wall either...came crashing down only 1 day after I put it up. Now it just sits on top of the litter box.

a little disappointed
The product seems to be working all right, but will NOT stay on the wall. The adhesive keeps coming off of the plastic case and the whole unit goes crashing to the floor -- I was concerned that the adhesive would come off of the wall. I had no idea it would be coming off of the unit itself. It has come down in the middle of the night several times. Very irritating.

Mixed feelings, at the least
I put this to a horrific task--eliminate the stench of seven dead mice who suicided themselves en masse in a full tub of stored bath water in a small bathroom. It worked after a day or two; or their odor dissipated over time, or because I opened the window? I'm not sure which but suspect the latter as there were room fragrance sticks that eminated (until I removed them) a noticeable scent previously pleasing, now forever associated with dead mice.Just me, but I wouldn't buy another, because it's really ugly, and not unless and until someone can explain the physics of it to my satisfaction. Plus, I don't think it works on all odors, dead mice being one of the worst imaginable.Burn some incense, or spray water infused with fragrance, or open (but not necessarily light) some scented candles, or stud an orange with cloves then sprinkle with cinnamon and hang, instead. It's possible the textures in the area you are trying to rid of odor may affect the viability of any particular product, as well as general ventilation. In my case, it could be inadequately sealed wood walls, lots of cloth, and minimal cross ventilation. Not to mention the mice!My hunch is that this product has limited use at best--I am open to be proven wrong and always willing to learn. If it works for cat boxes, that is good, but so do other things that are less expensive, and candles are much prettier.

Does not really help with pet odors.
If it eliminates odors at all, the effect is minimal al least with pet odors. It is pretty but not functional.

Smell Killer K40005 Air Cleanser
The smell killer is the best air cleaner that I have ever used. I use one around the kitty litter box and it eliminates the smell completely. If you have pets I recommend buying this product. It makes the room smell brand new. Worth the price.
