The front is cotton and the backing is bamboo. This is the best pad that I have found! It's extremely soft, doesn't move around under a sheet and is absorbent.

My baby runs very hot, his head seems to get a bit sweaty on ANY material we have tried. I feel like this may be a bit better for him. I would say this is breathable.
