Both of You

Weird people do weird things. Things that are not explanable, things that are illogical and things that are surreal. Well, Adele Parks introduced me to a lot of weird people through this book. The world is indeed scary, gahh! I must stop viewing everything through rainbow tinted glasses! 🤦‍♀️I really enjoyed how the story began. Leigh Fletcher narrates in first person and talks about her marriage. She has the perfect family. Nice husband, two step children whom she adores more than anything. And then another woman, Kai Jansenn is from quite an opposite world. Childless, yet quite happy in her marriage too. Living in a rich and luxurious neighborhood does help.And then one week, both disappears.Okay, so yes the narrative was pretty amazing. There's a huge reveal right in the middle of the novel, and honestly, I did not see that coming. But then, I do have a knack of guessing plot twists and endings and in this case, the fact that I was actually able to do so didn't help. You don't like a surprise that you're already expecting, right? So yeah, something like that happened. I feel pretty smug about being right most of the times, but I must admit, it is I who lose. I really like a good shocker, a mind-blowing twist that turns everything upside down. I meet those endings with the exuberance of a pup, so I guess you have already guessed how I felt about this one.The blurb almost misleads you into thinking that there's a lot of police procedural involved, but I was disappointed that there wasn't much in real. I just hoped DC Clements did some more digging and stuff. And that ending, yes I was expecting it but I was also expecting more from it. However, I did not like how it did. To put it more clearly, it wasn't satisfying. I believe performance wise, this thriller was an inverted-U curve in terms of a graphical analysis. In short, it kinda accelerates upto a point and then decelerates to a dead stop.Don't let this discourage you though. I just somehow figured it out, so the shocker was ruined for me but it just might not be the case for you. So do give it a chance, if not anything, it's definitely a decent thriller. Just not mind-blowing enough.

Fiona was a friend of Leigh's.Mark was a widower he lost his wife because of cancer. He had two sons named Oli and Seb. They were two adorable kids. Leigh loved those boys and ended up in stepmother to them. They lived a very happy life with their kids. Leigh was so carrying a parent that's impressed Mark so much about her. When they thought all going well and fine one fine day Leigh went to work she doesn't come back. No one knows where she was gone. Their family shattered into pieces.Few miles apart Kai Married a rich Dutch businessman Dann. He was a very handsome and very rich guy. Kai was fell for his beauty and wealth. They loved each other and ends up in a marriage. They lived in their posh penthouse in London. While Kai went missing in thin air without any trace. Dann was so upset with the sudden disappearance of his beloved wife.DC Clements started investigating both cases.What happened then? Where Leigh and Kai went missing? Did they kidnap if yes who and why they kidnapped them? Does DC Clements can crack this case and find the victim? What are the difficulties she had gone through? Did they alive in the end? Read it and find out.The twist and turns were really amazing. Most of the twist was unexpected and very sudden. Know can guess it's coming it's unpredictable. It's was a very interesting book to read. It keeps you guessing till the last page. That's was amazing you know. I enjoyed reaching this.I recommend this to read and feel the same. Hope so!! I don’t usually write reviews but was so disappointed with this book I felt I should save people wasting their money & time!!!Read a few by this author and always enjoyed them so was looking forward to this! Such a shame! It was terrible!!!! Very repetitive!!! HowMany times do you need to mention the bucket of poo (ha ha…. Tedious) the ending was the worst ending to a story!!! Like the writerGot bored and just gave up!!! Really really poor!!! Worst book of the year for me!!!

I have been reading books for more than eighty years, and I can confidently say that the first work of fiction I ever read, “Mr. Bunnykins Builds a Bung’lo”, towers in literary accomplishment, and in many more aspects, over the most recent, “Both of You”, by Adele Parks. I can give her novel two awards: It has the most ludicrously unlikely plot I have ever come across, and the worst ending. It concludes with the words “The End”, and I turned the page in the expectation that this was one of the “twists of plot” made so much of by admirers of the book – but it wasn’t. As other reviewers have commented, it is as if Adele Parks just got fed up with the book (which one can well understand) and decided to cut and run. A waste of money, and, at my time of life, of two or three hours that could have been better spent.

I have read a lot of Adele Parks books and usually enjoy them. But this latest one was a real let down. I didn't like the main character, Leigh, at all. I found her shallow and unbelievable. It is hard to write a review without spoilers, so I will just say that Leigh is married to Mark and has two step sons. But nothing in her life is as it seems. The truth about her starts unfolding when she disappears, but I really didn't care about her. I read the book to the end but sadly it didn't improve.

I usually enjoy Adele Parks' books as an easy bedtime read. As such I had high hopes for 'Both of You'. The plot was somewhat unlikely; I guessed quite early who the 'aggressor' was - but it was still OK, until the last couple of chapters. The end was very abrupt. I couldn't believe that there were no more pages to read on my Kindle! Very annoying and a literary let down.

This is the fifth novel I have read by Adele Parks, but it is her 21st novel in as many years and how she keeps coming up with new ideas is beyond me!Both of You is the story of two missing married women, Leigh Fletcher and Kai Janssen, and a female police officer, DS Clements, who gets a gut feeling that there might be a link between the two disappearances.As usual, Parks’s writing style is fluid and addictive, and her characters, especially the female ones, are brilliantly fleshed out and depicted. There’s a fantastic twist early on that had me reeling in shock and admiration!I guessed who the villain was, but this in no way spoilt my enjoyment of the novel, and there were a few serious contenders for the role of the baddie, so I could just as easily have got it wrong! I found the ending a little sudden, but this might have been because I didn’t want the story to end! The title fits the book perfectly.I would definitely recommend this psychological thriller! An easy 5 stars from me.
