Some channels only record 5 programs, will this record all.

It doesn't happen very often, but I've had my Genie recording five programs simultaneously on the DVRdaddy several times without issue. The Genie can record a maximum of five programs at once.

I love my dvrdaddy. since i am dumping directv, is there a way to repurpose it to another system, like my plex server?

I also dumped directv and gifted mine to my niece, but I’m guessing you can you it as any other external hard drive

Directv doesn't support esata, so how does one connect to their box? because several people have told me using usb won't work!

This expander will only work with DirecTV boxes which have an eSATA port. Since AT&T merged with DirecTV they change the design of their boxes so some set top boxes have eSATA ports and others do not. If you do not have an eSATA port on your box you will not be able to use any expander and are limited to your current internal hard drive. Thank you!

Does this work with tivo? can i transfer shows already saved on the tivo dvr?
