Solved My Xbox Series X Optical Audio Problem – Compact, Solid Build
I picked this up to get my older optical headset (Astro A50 Gen 1) working with my Xbox Series X, and overall it did exactly what I needed.First off, I was surprised by how compact it is—much smaller than I expected. Despite the size, the build quality feels solid and premium. The all-metal casing is a nice touch and gives it a durable feel.Setup wasn’t completely plug-and-play. It took a bit of fiddling to get the digital handshake working properly, but once everything synced up, it worked reliably without further issues. Most importantly, it solved my problem. I was able to use my older optical headset without needing to replace it, which saved me a decent amount of money.

Great if compatible.
This is a fabulous little item. It did not work with my particular set up, so I returned it. However, I firstly checked it was not faulty, & tried it on my friends Tv. It worked perfectly. It was not compatible with my sky soundbox.

Orei HDMI Audio Extractor failed to work with Win11 PC.
The HDMI audio extractor did not work. My audio source was a Geekom A7 Max Win11 pc. and I was using the optical (Toslink) connector to my home cinema amplifier. The extractor only provided audio to 3 of the 6 (ie 5.1) audio channels - centre front and two rear speakers. It did not provide audio to the two front side speakers or the sub.The pc HDMI port works properly (I tested it on a different amplifier with direct HDMI inputs). The optical cable and amplifier were all tested and working correctly, so I conclude that the Orei extractor was faulty.

Bought because the headphone socket on my monitor was unreliable
This device works fine - I plugged it into my Blu-Ray/DVD player and to my monitor. Sometimes I get snow on the screen when changing from a DVD menu to the film, but I can fix that by unplugging the power to tge device then reconnecting it.I made the mistake of thinking that I could just plug my headphones into it, but quickly discovered that it was too loud - you need something with a volume control, so I'll plug my speakers into it, then my headphones into the speakers.Based on research on the Internet, I had thought this might come with a US power supply, but it actually came with a UK plug, so I did not need an adapter.

Great little device
Purchased this to go with my Creative Soundblaster G8 so i can get the audio out from Xbox series x to my wired headphones. Works a treat.

Works OK but with a couple of considerations.
Optical output has a timing issue when linked up to my TV and NowTV (resulting in micro pauses / pops in the audio)... had to use the analogue output in the end which works perfectly, however, that forces the OREI's DAC to be used, not my amp's own high-end one, which means I'm foregoing some audio quality. From my research it seems this is a combination of the NowTV being a bit fickle, but this audio extractor is also not advanced enough to handle it.I understand a more premium audio extractor would likely not having this timing issue on the optical output. So all in all, it's a case of "get what you pay for".

A life saver!!!
Bought an ‘Xbox X’ for my son for Christmas to replace his old ‘Xbox one.’ I didn’t realise on the new Xbox X there is no optical out!!! I had my hdmi going to the projector for video and optical out to the amp for 5.1 surround sound. He had to play games with no sound :(I asked my son to look on Google and see if there was a solution to the problem. Amazon came up first (my preferred choice for shopping) and this little Orei splitter. After watching the video I decided to just buy it.Wow!!!! So easy to use, basically plug and play!!The hdmi cable goes in one side from the Xbox X to the Orei and then the other side optical out to the amp and hdmi for video to the projector with such ease. I tried a Blu-ray Disc in and the amp triggered by the 5.1 DTS surround signal from the Orei box made my day :). Everyone was happy, the sound is perfect!!If you need a Video/Audio splitter then I highly recommend this little Orei box of tricks!! 10/10

No audio on video throughput
Connected from my Blu Ray video output and then to TV there was no audio signal detected. However my player has a seperate audio HDMI out which worked perfectly. It might just be something peculiar to my player. Anyway I was happy. Not tested on Dolby 5.1 as I use 2 ch Pro Logic.

Ik heb het product gebruikt voor een Apple TV om het geluid naar actief analoge boxen te krijgen. Het geluid is goed, en het product ondersteund SEC HDMI in combinatie met TV. Ik raad dit product aan.

Met Requirement of using 4K Fire Sick with 4K projector and older AV Receiver
My home theatre setup consist of a 12 year old Denon AV Receiver and a projector that supports FHD. Over the years, the usage of multiple input sources such as DVD, Blu-Ray, Play Station & Nintendo ( children grew up) became less and less in usage and all the entertainment is now streamed through an Amazon Fire Stick.Recently, when my 12 year old projector finally quit working, I upgraded to a 4K projector and a 4K Fire Stick. With my Denon AVR supporting only 1080P, I first tried plugging the Fire Stick directly to the projector and use ARC through the 30 Feet HDMI cable to get audio through my Denon AVR. While this worked, the audio fidelity and level was very disappointing - maybe because of the 30 feet length of the HDMI cable from the projector to the AVR. Hence purchased the OREI 4K audio extractor from Amazon.Delivery: 5 Stars ( same day)Performance: 4 StarsVideo: 5 StarsWith the Amazon fire stick connected directly to the OREI Audio extractor, and the video signals pushed through the 30 feet HDMI cable to my projector, there is no noticeable picture quality degradation as compared to plugging the Fire stick directly to the projector.Audio: 4 StarsWith the optical out from the OREI connected to my Denon AVR, the sound fidelity and levels are good and resolved my problem with the ARC. 4 Stars because there is still a very little bit but perceivable drop in audio fidelity and levels as compared to direct HDMI input to my AVR, but it’s almost 90% there.Overall, very happy with the device.
