Great Read!
I read this book in one sitting! Its a great book that I couldn't really put down. It is simple - easy to understand, but also the author really does well by organizing the flow of the material. Some things are said over and over again - but for a reason. If you want to get a clear distinction of some of the modern myths about these things - then this is your easy to understand book.

Excellent read filled with truth
As someone who has struggled with an addiction to talking to psychics to hear what I wanted to hear or to have someone to talk to (using them like a therapist) and having a spouse and church who ridicules me about psychics and ghosts on a regular basis and shoves the whole "they are demons, psychics are fake, they talk to the devil" saga down my throat, I stumbled upon an interview with the author on Youtube where he discusses this book hoping to prove my husband and church wrong . I decided to buy it and dig deep into why I have the problem I have and how I can stop it. This book literally answered all my questions about whether or not my husband/church are right (they are actually) and why its unacceptable to trust or communicate with psychics and to believe ghosts are "real spirits that haunt a house due to unfinished business". It confirmed what I felt already, ghosts are real in that they are demons and that people cant come back from the dead in spirit form and communicate to their family members about how they are doing so well and to keep moving forward in life. This simply is impossible. My church has long told me that ghosts are "familiar spirits" which the Bible does discuss and that any belief in them is lunacy and the book confirms this to be accurate. The book does also discuss fake psychics (they all are fake, there is no such thing as a legit psychic, they are, however prophets who the devil uses to manipulate into doing psychic readings) and I would have liked to have seen a little more research and information into prophecy and how Satan lies to prophets to convince them they are psychic and how most are not intelligent enough to understand that they are not psychic, they are being controlled by Satan. Psychics are there for one reason and that is to make money. They do not care about you or about getting the truth right. Also, the book briefly discusses how psychics get irritated when they get the "reading" wrong and how they try to cover their behinds. For instance, with how many psychics I have spoken to, I have a bologna meter that goes haywire when I am told something that is false. I have actually confronted phonies before (look at the big online and phone psychic services you see on tv and you will know what I mean) and one recently told me "then read yourself if you dont like it!" that is their excuse for everything "the customer didnt hear what they wanted to and are bent outta shape at me now". I have not had ONE psychic reading come true, that is because Satan is a liar as this book shows us. The negative reviews about this book are simply because there are psychics on here who read this and found out how full of malarkey they are and that there are people that are onto them. Paranormal/psychics and parapsychology are a major money maker for crooks nowadays and there is a reason why- it gives people feel good answers and a silly answer about the afterlife. I liked how the book discussed how pagans will teach that there is no hell, everyone goes to heaven, what a farce. The book is a super easy read, anyone who would say that it is hard to read is probably not college or theologically educated. Ignore the naysayers, this book is actually right, they just cant handle the truth. People would love to say that the author has his "mind made up" about the occult, actually he does because he is simply understanding some very basic facts here, if it does not line up with the word of God, its bologna!

The Truth Behind Ghosts, Mediums, and Psychic Phenomena
All who are inquisitive about such subject matters could find that this is a good read. I highly recommend it. It is very informative and enlighting. Ron Rhodes is an excellent author concerning these matters. If one really wants to know the truth about such matters, then this book is a good start. When they said "the truth is out there somewhere", they meant that it could be found inside this book, also.

Not worth buying
Not one of Ron Rhodes best books. There wasn't much new information in the book. The main thesis, that ghosts don't exist, sums up the book. Thus I don't recommend buying it.Note, though, that most of Ron Rhodes books are excellent. Overall, he's the best Christian author I know of,and I've read a lot of Christian authors. He's a very good teacher and a top writer. Do check out his other books. Many are well worth reading.

Very interesting and insightful!
Ron Rhodes does a great job in this book! Anyone that is interested in the paranormal - whether from a Christian or secular view - should read this book. We are bombarded everyday by so called psychics, ghosts, horoscopes, and Oprah Winfrey :-) so make sure you know what is really behind all of these practices and be very careful that you are NOT deceived! Even Satan masquerades as an angel of light.

Invaluable resource for Christians and non Christians alike
Gives a great understanding of the supernatural world and its dangers. Needs to be updated to reflect what many people are into today.

Really Informative
This book is really good and backs up well with biblical scripture which I always look for in a book when reading about subjects like this. I could not put this book down. A good read.

short and informative
It didn't take long to read. Informative, interesting and conclusive. I am English so I hadn't heard of the psychics mentioned.
