40 Days Through Genesis: Discover the Story That Started It All

This is my first time studying the old testament book by book. I loved this resource for the book of Genesis. It is not prescriptive thinking. It guides you to use "your favorite Bible". It took me a little longer than 40 days because I travel a lot and couldn't always get this in every day. The end of each chaper has Life Lessons and questions to prod your own thinking that helps you grow in your Christian walk. I jus wish this author had one for every book of the Old Testament. Highly recommend this and you will not be sorry.

Bought this as a companion to my Sunday School lesson series. Interesting but more scholarly than I wanted.

I expected more depth.

This book is a reasonable exposition of the book of Genesis, but for me it has one annoying trait, and that is to refer to the land of Canaan as Palestine, and then a little further on as Canaan, and then Palestine again,this to me is most off-putting because it is incorrect. Palestine comes into the picture far later than the events in Genesis,and when the land of Canaan was conquered by the Jews it became Israel, and stayed Israel until the Romans drove the Jews out in the diaspora, changing the name to Palestine after the enemies of the Jews,the Philistines, and so adding insult to injury.For an author of Mr.Rhodes standing this is a remarkable error to make and very unprofessional.Other than that I do not regret purchasing the book and would recommend it to anyone interested in studying the book of Genesis.
