Milton S-921 Pencil Tire Pressure Gauge, Passenger Car, With Built-in Deflator Valve, Durable Plated Brass, Pressure Measured In PSI & kPa

-- Im old enough to remember when finding a (reliable) (accurate) (U.S. made) tire guage in auto parts stores was the norm -- not anymore. -- I live in the capital of Illinois and not one out of four auto parts store chains or any department store anywhere stocked even one example of a US made quality tire guage of any kind. The stores are full of nothing but cheap plastic inaccurate Chinese made pretenders -- and its a Shame, tires and fuel cost a lot of money and underinflated tires affect both adversely. My most recent set of tires cost $700, and the last thing I want is an inaccurate tire guage to ruin them with. What concerns me is these Milton gauges cost little more than the junk ones, so why do auto parts stores refuse to stock them-??!! Milton is one of the old school American quality names from way back when I was wrenching on cars for a living and I was so glad to see "Made In USA" stamped on the head of these gauges and on the package -- and better yet the accuracy is still there -- Ive bought four of the 5-50 pound guages and one of the 10 to 70 pound guages and all have been well within a pound or two of each other -- by the way the acceptable industry accuracy standard for non- professional gauges is within two to three pounds, and all of mine have met that standard within two pounds or less, some were identical - keep in mind these are still pencil gauges, if you require more accuracy (say at the track) you have to go to more expensive alternatives as anyone in that group knows - but even a few of those (imports) fall short on accuracy so be careful. For everyday glovebox type spaces these are handy and provide decent accuracy. I don't care for digitals as the batteries go dead and accuracy slowly falls off as the batteries die. Digitals are also temperature sensitive. I had three, my first one ($13.00) was not accurate under any conditions and on my last two $15.00 digitals the LCD display would not work correctly in the winter. A good analog guage will work accurately in any weather and does not depend on batteries to function - a good tire guage does not require a rocket science design to do the job correctly, it needs good build quality and a manufacturer that cares about quality more than large overseas profit margins. I should add I also own high quality dial type gauges and these inexpensive Milton pencil gauges are very close in accuracy, surprising even to me. ---- People-! - we need to start demanding more good quality US made products, the world used to want our well made merchandise, now US made quality is almost unobtainable and were forced to buy lousy quality low budget import junk --- BRING BACK QUALITY U.S. PRODUCTS & MANUFACTURING !!!

I wanted the simplicity, dependability -and precision- of pneumatic (air) gauges. No batteries. No springs. No digital. Sure, spring gauges have that nice, big, easy-to-read dial. But springs loose their tensile strength over time. And that means your gauge will read higher air than what you've actually got in your tires. I wanted just air blowing a stick. A Pencil gauge. Stopped at the local tire shop. Asked a guy named "Dave" what's the best. Dave has been doing tires for 40 years. Without hesitation, he said: "Get yourself a Milton pencil gauge." And if you take a look at the YT channel "ProjectFarm", you'll see that guy tested approx. two dozen gauges -of all types- back in 2024 - - - and sure enough - - - the Milton pencil gauge was the most accurate. Thus, I got the most simple, most accurate and most reliable-over-time gauge out there.

Great quality, Made in USA. These are so much better then those Chinese digital ones, this is old school and accurate !

I wanted to give this 5 stars but after reading the growing number of bad reviews I dropped a star in solidarity for those receiving dodgy units. Clearly Milton is experiencing a quality control issue and let's hope they address this. My gauge works great. With so many flimsy knock offs coming out of Asia, I was impressed by this gauge's quality construction, it actually feels like a tool in the hand instead of some plastic junk. My unit reads the pressure accurately and consistently. Given that I'll likely lose this gauge before it breaks on me, I hope Milton sorts out the quality consistency issues before I buy my next one.

After buying an electric tire gauge (which failed after only 1 year), I decided to go back to the old tried and true method. It works and you don't need batteries and you don't need a charging cord or electricity! And btw, it still fits in your glove compartment!

I got tired of junk tire gages. Crap digital gauges cost $20 and need batteries. Chinese convenience store gauges are always off by 2 psi at least and get worse with time. I have 2 made in the USA gauges. One low pressure for motorcycle forks and one standard. They are so expensive I had to buy a $10 rubber cover in case I dropped them. I would never leave one on my glove box. These are great, American, accurate and cheap. Buy 10 give them out friends, Christmas stocking stuffers whatever.

I gotta admit, I really just needed a tire gauge. I have bought a few before in my lifetime. All typically made of some hard plastic or a lightweight metal. Never put much thought into these things. Most of them were lost and I would just simply buy another one. No big deal right? Well, the time came when I needed a new one. I wanted a reliable one because I was gonna make sure I don't lose the next one I buy so I wanted something that will last the test of time. Cheap ones, well, if they get lost, you just keep buying them. This one, however, caught my attention. It said MADE IN AMERICA. Normally, that appears to just be a catch phrase. Then I went on to read some reviews and some people gave it some really good reviews. So I figured, well, perhaps there is something to that MADE IN AMERICA...Cause we Americans are highly demanding of quality for the money we pay on things. This may sound silly for what the product was..but seriously, this really did play out in my mind. I made the purchase and to my shocking surprise, I got a VERY HIGH quality produced tire gauge. Solid, slightly heavier than normal, based on what I am used to and it reads the PSI on my tires well! Little did I know, ALL my tires needed some air. Finally, that low tire pressure light went away! I am so impressed with this product, I HAD to give it a review. IF its MADE IN AMERICA, do not take it for granted! Even some what may appear like a basic tool, IT MATTERS highly for the price of this product.

Works like it should, fairly accurate compared to TPMS reading.

Accurate, easy to store, no batteries, lasts for ever....I have one purchased over 35 years ago in the US...same gauge.

Quality metal tire/tyre gauge that you can trust. Like the rest of their US built gear, these keep working, unlike many. My life is too short to have to wonder if the pressure indicated is right, or have the plastic head break off on a trip.
