Excellent On-Demand Sump Pump for Window Well: Installation Tips
Excellent sump for emergency egress window well which flooded my basement. This pump has an automatic on-off activated by the presence of 1-1/2" water. Here are some installation tips:1. The dual plug arrangement alluded to in another review, now comes as two wires connected to a single plug.2. Although the right angle adapter to fit a garden hose included with the pump is attractive and simple, using a check valve is recommended to avoid back flow of the column of water in the hose; this can cause the pump to cycle on and off as the water flows back and triggers the pump to start again. I could not find a way to attach a check valve to the garden hose without a bit of adapting and additional fittings.3. The Universal check valve suggested in Amazon as a bundle requires additional fittings; instead, buy the $6.95 Everbilt Sump Pump Check Valve part #THD1021, available at Home Depot. This is 1-1/4" threaded to fit directly onto the sump pump without additional fittings.4. With hose clamps, you can attach the 24 foot Universal discharge hose kit directly to the 1-1/4" slip fit outflow end of the check valve. The hose clamps are included with the hose kit. This is the simplest arrangement allowing use of a check valve, without a lot of adapters/additional fittings.5. I dug a hole in the window well deep enough to place a 4" deep kitchen type plastic wash basin so the top edge of the basin was at the window well ground level. I set the sump pump into the basin after drilling multiple small holes in the side and bottom of the basin. This allows water to enter the basin and start the pump well before the water level reaches the ground level of the window well, which is about 4" below the window sill.

No water inside my shop.
Works great. Sump pump is located in a water collection container in the ground. I use to get water in my shop with a 2” rain. Got 5” and my shop stayed dry.

Well-performing, automatic pump at a fair price
I was looking for a sump/utility pump to clear a patio that has a slow drain. I wanted a pump that I could leave plugged in all the time and that would activate automatically in only a couple of inches of water and drain it down to 1/8" or 1/4". Such pumps are pretty hard to find. The other one I had my eye on was the Zoeller LM44 but it's pretty rare. After a couple of weeks of use (a couple of times a week) I'm happy to report that the Wayne EEAUP250 is holding up well. I used a 1 1/4" hose kit and it's raising the water it pumps at least 10' (it supposed to handle 15').One thing i noticed (and this may be common with all pumps but I just don't have enough experience) is that dips in the hose tend to be problematic and the pump often won't turn off because although there's no water left it hasn't completely cleared all of the water in the hose and it keeps going down back to the pump. So it definitely works better when the hose is straight up (or at a constant angle) rather than up and down. It's not a quiet pump but since it's outside I can barely hear it and it doesn't bother me.The only criticism I have so far is that the automatic actuator seems to be an add-on and not designed to integrate well with the pump. For example, it's just bolted on to the side of the pump and the actuator/sensor has a separate power cord that the pump's piggy back's on. Seems to be the same setup as if I'd bought an external switch for the pump.Final notes: I chose this pump over a sump pump because the sump pumps tend to be activated when the water level is pretty deep (using a float mechanism) and don't pump down as low. Obviously that's because they're intended to be placed in a sump pit where water will collect.

Lifesaver
Ok, maybe not lifesaver but certainly basement saver. Just survived the recent Chicagoland flooding. While our basement didn't fill up with river water we experienced significant seepage. This is a huge problem for us because our sewer system cannot cannot handle any above average rain storm and will backup into homes. We prevent this by inserting a stack pipe into the basement drain. This works great except that it also blocks the drain for seepage within the basement. Thus the problem: what to do with seepage backup. This little floor pump was perfect and worked great! We connected a garden hose to the pump and ran it into the sump pump pit. Great suction and flow. After about 1 inch of water the pump would auto engage and take remove almost all seepage leaving ~ 1/8 inch. After awhile we decided to pull the hose out of the pit and run it up out of the basement window (~ 5' vertical). The pump still worked like a champ although we did notice it had to work a little harder: the flow was weaker and it took much longer to get the job done but it got it done. It ran for almost 24 hours straight, engaging ~ every 15 min or so. No problems - no over heating - no lack of performance. Very happy with this product.Oh, by the way, it arrived two days earlier than expected and just in time

This thing is a beast, works great. Slightly difficult to screw on hose, but works great once done.
This has been buried in a bucket next to my patio for over a (very rainy) year and has been a beast throughout. Pumps all of the water before it can reach my patio, preventing flooding inside from an otherwise 3"+ puddle on my patio. Doesn't die, does it's job well.My only 2 minor complaints are as follows:- screwing on the hose takes more time than it should. I'm not sure if the threads are off or what it is, but it's just not easy. Works once on, though, and I've only had to do it a few times as I've moved the bucket and/or hose.- I think it would keep up with ultra-heavy rain better with a larger hose so I'm going to try that soon. Likely not the pumps fault to be clear. But we've had multiple days where it's rained HARD and the pump couldn't keep up at first, though again this may because of my hose diameter. But overall, this thing does its job amazingly well.-
