Robelle351833-4 Super Winter Pool Cover for Oval Above Ground Swimming Pools, 18 x 33-ft. Pool

So We’ve had our Pool for 12 years now, it’s an 18 x 33 Oval. I’ve tried numerous pool covers over the years from Expensive to Cheap; none of which ever actually fit the pool, Until Now! This Cover is not Cheap but it’s not the most expensive either but the best part is it actually covers all sides of the pool without any problems. Normally I would have to weight the sides to keep the cover on the pool. This pool cover stayed in place all winter long with no weights or clips and no debris entered the pool. IDK how long it will last but it survived the first year better than most. I will certainly purchase this pool cover again.

We just closed our pool with this cover for the third year. Our pool is 15x26 with a walk around of 18” and a 10 foot end deck. We bought the cover for an 18x40 pool to cover the entire surface with extra to allow us to use clips on the walk around and deck end to secure it. We also add a leaf net. The covering and securing takes three of us about one hour total. Each spring our pool is clean and the water clear when we open it. We could not be happier. The cover is still in great shape.We had tried two other covers and other methods of securing them before this and always ended up with black water in the spring, cover failure during the winter, just always a mess of some kind. We have had no issues at all with this cover.I rarely write reviews but am doing so now hoping that perhaps someone may be able to employ our strategy to their pool.

Durable, yet not super heavy. It takes a beating for a year or two, then starts separating. It what I would expect with the harsh conditions It goes through on our pool.

Summary of Issues:1. Not an actual pool cover2. No drainage holes3. Shape was entirely wrong.4. No value for money5. Size was totally wrong6. Not designed for poolsI purchased this with the expectation that it was an actual pool cover designed for an above ground pool of the specified size and shape. My pool is an oval 12X18 above ground.However, when I unboxed it I discovered it to be nothing but a generic hardware store variety tarp. It is not designed to cover an actual swimming pool at all.There are no drainage holes. When it rains water accumulates on the tarp and stays there attracting mosquitoes and mildew. All of my previous pool covers had drain holes and were resistant to algae and mildew.The product description says “Robelle 351218-4 Super Winter Pool Cover for Oval Above Ground Swimming Pools, 12 x 18-ft.” However, this item is much larger. Its so big that it extends over 4 feet on all sides of the pool causing a real problem when there is wind. Also, it is not OVAL as specified. It is clearly rectangular. My previous covers were all oval and fitted with a cord to secure it to the pool. This thing comes with an undersized rigging that is too small for the plastic fishing line they supplied to secure it.Not only is its specification all wrong but it is not even a pool cover. It is a common hardware variety tarp worth less than half what I paid for it on Amazon.It is simply not what I expected when I ordered a pool cover. I could have just gone to the hardware store if all I wanted a common tarp.

Only issue I have with these covers is the barely last more than a couple years with the wear and tear from the harsh winter. But if you’re looking for something that will cover your pool for a season and don’t mind buying whenever every year or so this is a decent cover. Price is a little steep, but not many options out there.

Tarp was okay. Did not last a complete year. Some fading and tearing due to high winds, rain and cold. Will have to purchase a stronger one.

Maybe I’m the exception to the rule but I got 8 years out of this cover. The cheap covers only lasted me 1 year though. There are a few keys to getting this cover to last:1. Don’t hyperchlorinate your water in the fall more than a double shocking. Chlorine eats tarp.2. Clean the cover like a mad man when you take it off. Don’t wad it up and throw it in the corner.3. Dry it thoroughly and fold it up to be stored indoor for the summer.

This cover made it through it's first winter season in New York City .. although this winter wasn't extreme, I found that this product did very well when it froze.. and from what I can see, the water is still clear and it's still separating leaves etc.. no holes from what I can tell.. if it performs next year close to what it did this year then this will be a top 3 product in it's category.. i'll revisit next season
