4.5 Hollywood and Stone Cold Fox stars
Yet another wonderful series has come to an end and I don’t want to say goodbye! The Hot in Chicago series has focused on the firefighting Dempsey family, a clan that is made up of adopted children who share a closer bond than some blood related siblings. One by one they have fought through adversity to find their HEA, and Sparking the Fire is the story of the last man standing: Mr. Tall Dark and Broody also known as Wyatt Fox.Wyatt is recovering from an on the job injury to his shoulder, and when his captain orders him to consult with a producer for an upcoming movie loosely based on his sister Alex's story while he is unable to perform his duties, Wyatt immediately balks. Then he finds out exactly who is starring in the movie and he does a quick about face.Superstar actress Molly Cade rocked his world 5 years ago as he returned stateside after his final tour of duty with the Marines. They enjoyed a hot steamy week together, but they never exchanged names and went their separate ways afterward. Molly was still getting her start in the industry at the time, so Wyatt was able to discover her identity and has followed her career, but she often wondered what happened to her mystery Marine. Imagine her shock when the CFD consultant assigned to her project is not only a familiar face but also the protective big brother of the woman she needs to convince to be allowed to tell her story on the big screen. The chemistry has not lessened between them with the passage of time but they both decide to keep their history just between them. Molly is trying to re-establish herself and rebuild her reputation with this movie, and while she needs to stand on her own 2 feet to make it happen, she is not above using her feminine wiles to bring Wyatt around to her way of thinking. Wyatt has never been much of a talker so not disclosing their shared past is not a hardship, but their non-verbal communication is louder than words and it isn't long until his family starts to form their own suspicions. The UST just continues to build until they finally reach the combustion point and things turn downright scorching from there! When they are alone or with his family, it is easy to forget Molly's fame. The real world threatens to encroach on their little bubble all too soon though.Wyatt may be quiet and reserved, but he loves deeply and he is an alpha protector to the core. His method of dealing with threats to those he loves is not exactly subtle which will bring unwanted scrutiny to both of them if he isn't careful. Wyatt's lineage before being adopted is not something he wants the world to have access to, and his blue collar life doesn't mix with the Hollywood glitz and glamour. The reason behind his relative silence is tied to his younger years and tugged at my heartstrings when he tells Molly about it. He is not the only one to suffer feelings of inadequacy though. Molly's ex did a number on her confidence and self esteem in a world that already chips away at both, and the disastrous photo leak that tarnished her career just won't go away. Add in secrets that Wyatt has been keeping from his family and things get real interesting really fast!Through it all, I loved the banter and chemistry between Wyatt and Molly. She is far from a pushover, and she loves to push Wyatt's buttons with her sassy attitude and independent nature. Although they both agree to a limited time only Round 2 together, neither one wants it to end when filming is complete and Molly has to return to LA. She knows how much family means to Wyatt, especially with the appearance of Roni, an individual with a surprising and previously unknown connection to the Dempseys. We get plenty of interaction with the remainder of the Dempsey family too as they make no secret of enjoying Wyatt's fall but encourage him to embrace happiness for himself for once.If you love a story filled with love, laughter, family, fun and emotion, then be sure to check out Sparking the Fire and the Hot in Chicago series as a whole!

Sexy, sweet hero
Sparking the Fire is the final book to Kate Meader's Hot in Chicago and while it could be read as a stand alone I recommend reading this series from the beginning. I was really looking forward to Wyatt's book. He has intrigued me from the beginning of this series. He's different from the other Dempsey siblings and I really wanted to know what made Wyatt tick. This book centers around Wyatt and Molly Cade, an actress. First let me say there isn't much about Wyatt being a fireman in this book. No big fires, no firehouse scenes because Wyatt is injured and working as a consultant for a movie being filmed. This was a tad disappointing but I still thoroughly enjoyed this book. Wyatt and Molly had met five years previously where they shared a week of sex without telling each other their names. Molly hadn't made it big yet and Wyatt was at a turning point in his life having just gotten out of the marine corp. At the end of the wee they both went their separate ways. Molly made it big and married another star and Wyatt became a firefighter. Although he followed her career Molly never knew who Wyatt was. Five years later, Molly is divorced and producing/staring in a movie about a female firefighter when she finds out that her consultant is none other than the man she had crazy sex with five years ago and a Dempsey the family she wants to help her with her current movie.First let me say I LOVED Wyatt! He was the tall, dark, handsome, brooding alpha but he wasn't stereotypical. He wasn't arrogant or cocky and he had a habit of putting his family and friends in front of everything including himself. He was incredibly loyal and protective of his family and had a vulnerability a mile wide. Wyatt's past was interesting and explained a lot about his character and his relationship with his adopted family. I love the Dempsey clan as well and it was fun to see the characters from the previous books. The family dynamics in this series is one of the most fun and entertaining that I have read and Kate throws a new member into this book that shakes things up a bit but in a good way. While I didn't necessarily agree with either Wyatt or Molly's reasons for staying apart I didn't find it that far fetched either. Wyatt's protectiveness and loyalty is a big part of who he is and so of course that transferred to Molly as well. Did I mention how much I loved Wyatt? He was so strong, sexy and sweetNow as for Molly while I didn't love her I didn't dislike her either. I'm not a big fan of actress characters because it's hard to write them as anything other than spoiled and diva like. Molly wasn't much of an exception to that. It bothered me that Molly got upset about Wyatt's protective instinct. You can be an independent woman and still admire a man for wanting to protect you. But it seemed she was used to getting what she wanted the way she wanted it. I HATED the way she made Wyatt feel when she decided to end things. The biggest reason this book lost a star for me was that Molly was the one that messed up. She hurt Wyatt and made a bad decision and when she changed her mind her way of letting him know was silly to me and not near enough of an apology. In fact I don't feel like Molly made near enough of a gesture or apology and it ended up being Wyatt who made the grand gesture at the end. I didn't like that at all. It seemed Molly just expected Wyatt to come to her and that smacked of arrogance and again being a Diva. I think if a woman screws up she should have to own it and apologize and it should have been Molly coming to Wyatt to apologize and win him back. However, with all that said I still really enjoyed this book and I loved reading about Wyatt and his family. This book was entertaining and definitely worth reading. Thanks to Net Galley and the publisher for gifting me this book in return for an honest review.

Hot!Hot!Hot! - and so much more... Beautiful
SPARKING THE FIRE, Book 5 in the Hot in Chicago series, is Wyatt's story. Wyatt Fox is the eldest, mysterious, low-key, Dempsey. He's a calming force, not one for letting his temper get the better of him (like ALL the other Dempseys), and he has a secret. In all the other books he is not seen very often; with just a few scenes here, scattered through the books. However, he shines in this book. Not only is Wyatt a firefighter but he's also a former marine. The book starts out in a fabulously memorable way and I love the hot passion between Wyatt and Molly. This book tells a wonderful story and the simmering heat between the two is so visceral and consuming. Molly is a fabulous leading lady - she is warm, funny and her focus is wonderful. Kate Meader managed to not only make this story scorching hot between Wyatt and Molly, but she also had a great message about family. Not all of the Dempsey's are blood related but you can't find a closer bond. My favourite line in the book "the Dempseys lived up to their billing and then some. Staunchly loyal, gloriously profane, a special bond that couldn’t be faked."I especially love second chance romances. Wyatt being the reserved man looses all his wits when it comes to Molly. She brings out his protective streak like nobody else (including his family). And being that Molly is trying to be independent she is torn with how to handle Wyatt. While she wants her independence she also has never had anyone want to protect her like Wyatt. These two heal each other in ways they didn't know they needed healed. The culmination of two halves coming together - it's quite beautiful.Kate Meader knows how to write beautiful romance stories that are loaded with fun and interesting characters, beautiful development, loads of steamy scenes, passion, alpha males, and feel good endings. I think this is my favourite in a wonderful series, it really goes beyond surface and you feel like you are in these characters souls. She is an author that I must read every book she publishes in this genre. And this is one series I adore ... It's a 1-click auto-buy for me
