MECCANOErector - Micronoid - Green Switch, Programmable Robot Building Kit

I'm very happy with this purchase. I'd been looking at the robotic toys like the Meccano Micronoids for awhile. The regular price of "Green Switch" was around $40 but I got it on an awesome "deal," reduced to under $17. Bought as a birthday gift for a 9 year old boy who loves building things. I thought this would be a challenge he'd enjoy and it did not disappoint. He took it to his room and independently built it in about an hour and a half. It later needed to be taken apart and rebuilt with a little parental coaching, but it was more about using the included tools and tightening the connections. The parts are a mix of plastic and metal with lots of nuts and bolts to hold everything together. It dances, whistles, and talks - answering questions with a programmed repertoire of responses (comical!) also has a feature where you can record your own response. Great STEM toy for the kid (future engineer!) who loves building things. Lots of laughter, great entertainment value. Works for a boy or a girl. The recommended age of 8 years is pretty accurate, but it will all depend on the child's skill set: some 8 yr olds will need help, so best to be on stand-by.

I bought this for my 4yr old, 7yr old and 9 year old to play with and they love it! It is easy for all of them to use and has pretty cool features. You can program movement and voice, ask it yes and no questions, have it dance, he also has a mode where he does his own thing (giggling, farting, dance, sing). This was difficult for them to put together on their own, so I helped them with it. It didn't take long and had pretty good picture directions. I am looking to buy another one to test the interactive feature.

My daughter has asked a robot for 2 years now, but the way she plays with something for a couple days and forgets about it, I just couldn't go with an expensive one (she's 8). This arrived 4 days before Christmas with a big hole in the plastic box (the box containing the robot, not the shipping box). Amazon was great at taking care of the problem though.The robot has to be built. It took my daughter and I at least 2 hours to put it together. Think of it as similar to a Lego kit. At first it was a little frustrating, but the pieces fit together well and it was actually kind of fun to make.The robot has a fun personality, and we've had it dance to music, answer yes/no questions, repeat after us, etc. My daughter is enjoying the robot so far.

The media could not be loaded. There are four Meccano MicroNoids: Switch, Titan, Blue Basher and Red Socket. I strongly recommend you purchase at least two of the models - it doubles the fun (see video).MicroNoids are programmable robots that are built using Erector Set-type construction (Meccano bought the Erector brand) with motorized movement and voice-activated responses. As stand-alone units, they are highly entertaining since you can program them to dance, record a phrase (a whopping 22-second recording time; it will repeat back in robot voice) or allow it to execute its pre-programmed actions.A pivoting upper body swings the attached arms which provide the momentum to move the 2-wheel base legs. It’s less motorized movement and more kinetic energy, but it totally works. These guys can really move. Flashing eyes complete the whole friendly alien ensemble.When you add another MicroNoid to the mix, they play off one another to really set things in motion. A highly entertaining toy/project. My 12-year-old son loved building this set. Kudos to Meccano for reimagining the static Erector Set brand.

We love this robot! It was a little difficult for the kids to put together but with help they did it. It is so cool, does everything it says, easy to operate and is a great price for such a great toy! The seller sent it super fast and checked to make sure it arrived and was in good condition.

Some people will say that this was too difficult for the age level and i could see why since there were lots of small parts and difficult angles that pieces needed to be assembled. I helped my 7 year old with this and ended up doing the bulk of the work since it was very fine and practiced motor skills needed to assemble this toy. Once together its lots of fun when you record your own voice or have him answer questions.

Falls all the time if you want it to walk/dance (AKA, turn it on). My stepson has had to rebuild it over and over again to redistribute the weight in the hopes that it'll stop falling. It hasn't yet.

Hours of adult assembly required! I f8gured I would have to help my 7 year old build this, but the pieces are so small, and it is so complex, there was not much he could do. It took me a couple hours to put together. Some of the steps were very difficult. It's cool once put together. I just hope it holds my kids interest long enough to make the labor I put into it worth it.

My grandson who is 7yrs old said that this present was the best.Good quality so imaginative for the children brilliant.

Sympa à monter, bon entraînement pour la motricité fine.Qualité Mécano, rien à redire.Tout le monde se marre bien avec les questions oui-non. Idem pour le côté interactif, il chante, danse, discute, enregistre et répète. Ensuite, on se lasse vite...C'est rapidement limité.Il n'est pas super au point lorsqu'il tourne, 1fois/2 il bascule et tombe.Il n'en reste pas moins que ce petit robot est attachant, il fait toujours sensation lorsqu'on le découvre.

Regalato a mio figlio di 7 anni. Probabilmente x costruirlo autonomamente servono un paio di anni in più. Ma abbiamo occupato insieme allegramente qualche pomeriggio nell'attesa di vederlo completo. Le funzionalità finali hanno superato le mie aspettative. Prossimamente acquisterò altri robot della stessa linea.
