Does this product work for cutting butter into pie crust?

I do not think that the Danish Dough Whisk would work well for cutting butter into pie crust dough. I recently learned a new method of cutting in butter, but so far I have only used it for biscuits. Put your butter in the fridge for 20 minutes or more, then grate it into your flour mixture, stirring the mixture every so often.

I have one saved for a gift, still in package. There is no indication of "Made in........" I bought one about 3 years ago, and at the time I think something lead me to believe it was made in Poland. Regardless it is very well constructed. I like giving them as gifts.

Can the whisk handle 5-6 cups of flour for a bread recipe? Is it strong enough to manage that amount of dough?

Yes, 6 cups of flour is no problem for wetter recipes (a la 5 minutes a day). I have used the whisk also for drier recipes up to 4 cups of flour with no problems, and I would imagine 5-6 cups of flour isn't that much a stretch. I even use the whisk for sponges with equal success. I haven't tried the smaller one, but if you're using this for sponges or smaller amounts of flour I suspect that's the right tool for the job.

what wood is the handle? The picture looks like oak or hickory, not birch like some others. ?

Their website says birch. It is quite strong. I've put this through 10 to 12 cups of flour at a time mixing dough. It is beautifully smooth. I've also thrown it in the drawer with other utensils and have not observed any damage to the wood. I have not had to "baby" this utensil.

Excellent quality, very useful

I’m so glad I bought this. It’s a great tool to have in the kitchen. I wanted it for bread dough, but have used it to mix muffin dough also. It’s easy to mix butter and sugar together for cookies, muffins etc with this utensil. It is sturdy and well made - highly recommend.
