I learned so much about our Blessed Mother
If you have any curiosity about the Virgin Of Guadalupe or if you think you know everything about her, I highly recommend this book. I learned so much about how She converted the entire population of the indigenous people of Mexico and then the rest of Latin America. For years the catholic priest were trying bring Christianity to the people of Mexico and they weren't very successful. Then Jesus sent His Mother bring the people of Mexico the message about Her Son and She left Her image on the tilma of Juan Diego. There is so much more in this book along with pictures. I am completely satisfied with this book.

An Astonishingly Beautiful Book
As a non-Christian, I do still appreciate the significance of idols and saints. While this is typically a theoretical "acceptance", with this glorious book I saw the emotional connection that the Mexican people have to their Virgin of Guadalupe. This book is beautifully written and illustrated with hundreds of images. I also now understand why it was so easy for the native Aztecs to accept the Spanish invaders, even help them. Simply put, this is simply a magnificent book. I am so glad I got it.

A great book for learning about the Guadalupe image
A must have book for any Catholic or anyone interested in Mexican history or culture. It not only talks about the immediate history and story of the sacred image of Guadalupe. But it also talks about Mexico's whole history surrounding the image and how it has shaped Mexico into modern times. Also it goes into the scientific research that was done on the image to further study it. It has a great mix of photos, art, and writing.

Gorgeous, up-to-date, well written.
This is like a small-size coffee table book, but better because it thoroughly covers all topics related to the apparitions at Guadalupe. Including the social and political history, the origin of the tilma and its history, and details about the scientific study and testing of the various aspects of the image

Good reviews but I bought it as a gift
Bought as a gift. I wanted to read it first but that's not nice. I'm sure he will enjoy it as he is going to Mexico later.

This book is full of fantastic photos in explanation of this wonderful mystery
This book is full of fantastic photos in explanation of this wonderful mystery. It is like a coffee table book that can spur lots of conversation. I recently visited the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe for her feast day. This book will help me remember that visit for years to come. Thank you!!!

Big disappointment
I certainly was expecting a different kind of book. The pages dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe are some at the beginning of the book (page 8 to 71) and some at the end of the book (page 200 to 279). If you consider that more than half of the pages are pictures (I have carefully counted them and this is true for the entire book . Often the pictures are useless, i.e. do not add anything to the knowledge of the subject) you end up counting hardly 70 pages on the "Guadalupe Mysteries".The main part of the book is about Mexican history. Obviously context is important to understand an historical fact. However the impression here is that there was the material for a history of Mexico and the Guadalupe part was added to make the book attractive to a wider audience. This is an expensive book and seeing page after page of photos of pilgrims in procession, paintings of Aztecan against Spaniards, close shots of of the agave thread and so on for ever, is really too much. The whole information about Guadalupe could have been condensed in a less-than-100-page paperback, for a quarter of the price of this one. Big disappointment.

an amazing miracle that is still in evidence today
A beautifull book, an amazing miracle that is still in evidence today. Read and spread the story.

Important, Moving, Beautiful
As the Bard has it: There are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy. And later: Is not this something more than fantasy? For our modern-day so-called School of Enlightenment which refuses to see the Light this important, moving, beautiful book should be required reading.
