can you tell me what does the hover ball look like?

Just like in the pictures provided the ball or puck is larger than a real puck. It is larger in diameter and height due to the electronics housed inside that create it's hovering above the floor for a smooth glide across floorings and the lights which are just fluff effect. My 4 yr old grandson and his dad enjoy it for in house play.

Does it work on carpet?

If the carpet is very low pile it might work. You can keep it on a hard surface for it to work the best.
